Beat L and Zygarde last night, still need to do 15 challenger tickets. After the tutorial, which lasts a long time, the game is good. Side quests are fun, the new combat system is good, the rouge megas get repetitive but they do a new gimmick for each of them so that’s nice. I like the characters, especially Corbeau. I think the final boss before the credits was kinda lame, the actual fight itself anyway. Game is very easy as well since it’s Pokemon. Didn’t use any pouch items during battles, the hardest parts were just fighting some alphas underleveled. Nothing comes close to being as cool or hard than Volo’s fight in PLA except for the final boss on both fronts I guess. I’ve seen more people say Zygarde and L were harder than the final boss, I didn’t think so but all three are like 3 or 4 out of 10 on a difficulty scale anyway. Exploring the city isn’t that fun, it’s very samey and the most fun you’ll get from it is running across roofs since Pokemon are up there along with good items like TMs. Sadly they made Scizor and Steelix post-game only because the Metal Coat isn’t obtained till then, which is bad because Scizor is the best Pokemon of all time. Online was pretty fun, got A rank way before I beat the game. Game definitely could look better visually, the detractors are right about that and I’m glad the Switch 1 is getting left behind. Overall, I’d say it’s better than PLA on average even if PLA had higher highs, but those highs were all in the post game and there’s only two of them. Alpha Pokemon could be bigger too I guess. 7/10.

This is obviously subjective but in some ways he's right. There's more going on in the open world games than the route games. More item respawns, raids, mass outbreaks. The route games hardly had much reason to return to explore routes besides some mechanics like honey trees and the daily spawn, but mass outbreaks do that a little better.

After way too many hours in ZA and cheating in the content not officially available yet. I honestly think it is a step down from the previous legends game. Which felt uncomplete and rushed also. It was sequel that did not do enough to fix issues with the previous entry and created new problems on top of that. It is worse on multiple aspects.

No, the hate is rooted is in how the games kept getting worse and worse while Game Freak actively spat in their core fans' faces with things like "The Battle Frontier has started!" and LGPE. Then Game Freak said nah don't worry about LGPE, the next game will be for core fans where we really try. 1. The game has been delayed by a year meaning it had basically been finished for a year already, meaning they had been working on the DLC since and that it's basically already finished as well.

2. Plenty of Nintendo games had DLC announced before their release, such as BotW and there they announced the DLC before even giving any details of what they'd contain, too.

"It's finished hence it should be part of the main product" is not how this works or ever has worked. DLC is usually planned the moment the main game is actually being developed or turns into a "maybe add this later" for everything that needs to be cut for time/budgetary reasons. If a project has an allocated budget, then everything outside that budget needs to be allocated to another project, which then is being sold separately, that's how literally every industry works. Not unless adding it "for free" will increase the sales of the main product by SO much it will generate more revenue than if you sold it separately or added it and increased the base price.

the battle system is very very shallow and repetitive. a huge step down.

it looks thoroughly terrible, visually. it's kind of insane how bad the textures are.

it has maybe the worst writing in a pokemon game ever, and that's really saying something. Pokemon games already did not have good writing, but this is a new low.
And what makes that worse is how it stops you every minute and forces you to sit through complete garbo cutscenes. This has been one of the worst nu-pokemon trends and somehow they only keep making it even more annoying and miserable to experience over time.
