Silksong made me finally play through all of the Castlevania games after being a big Metroid guy for a long time. I can comfortably say I like Metroid and Castlevania more than Hollow Knight and its sequel.

Metroid is fucking amazing though, although it's a franchise that has a terrible output of games, and then you have shit like dread or fusion which play really well but are kinda railroady/linear compared to suepr which plays a bit worse but is much more amazing in terms of exploration, all of them are really well paced though, usually pretty short and sweet

Yes but you can also say that good gameplay involves having some amount of depth and any amount of depth to your gameplay will naturally turn away most people as they need games to play themselves.
Regardless of either of these facts, it's the best metroidvania because its ranking system encourages you to engage with its combat systems and also incentivizes exploring for upgrades or changing up your boss order.
All Metroidvanias need to start using ranking systems as these games are almost always very easy and a ranking system allows the game to still be easy while still giving you a reason to play well and/or not just button mash or cheese.

While fighting, you have a letter ranking that goes up as you deal damage, going up faster if you alternate attacks/weapons and going down when you're not attacking and if you get hit.
