That's what I've been saying. If Bethesdrones could gobble up all those other trashy slop games then why did they suddenly draw the line at Starfield in such dramatic fashion? Every Bethesda game in the past 23 years was bad. I don't understand it.

Starfield setting is intentionally shit and boring There is completely nothing for the 4 playerbases of TES games in Saarfield. Nothing for lore schizos, nothing for coomers to coom to, nothing for normalfags to be amazed by, nothing to even mod

Setting alone utterly ruined it. Everything else doesn't matter at all. Game could be identical in terms of mechanics, design etc but if it was a full blown Space Opera instead of the Interstellar wannabee, it would constantly top steam charts and sell millions

I can turn Skyrim into a great erotic and f*cking game, with some dungeon delving. Starfield requires me to enjoy spaceship combat, not sure how I feel about that yet. The FPS part seems pretty OK.

Todd doesn't see the appeal of whimsy, novelty, and humor.
This was fine with Skyrim because he had other people to bounce off of and others working on their own pockets of the game.
But for Starfield, all the other members of leadership took the unlimited Microsoft money and fucked off for most of its development and most of the more senior designers jumped ship to ES6 the moment they could, leaving Todd and his yes-men which meant that all the whimsy, novelty, and humor just never was..

Morrowind's main quest is the least fun I've had with any Bethesda game. Who the fuck thought that was a good idea?

I prefer scifi, its just that Starfield is a very dull scifi setting with a lot of things that seem juvenile and poorly thought out. But then again I think the same of Skyrim in fantasy terms. And the Fallout games. The one good thing about Bethesda games was the immersiveness, the illusion of a lived in world with emergent gameplay. Starfield didn't even have that.

Bethesda used to grow their playerbase exponentially with each new game, which considering they were putting out new games relatively frequently more then made up for any drops in quality. Your first Bethesda game would be great, the next one still good but missing things, the one after mediocre and everything following it shit.
Skyrim was shit to the couple hundred thousand Arena/Daggerfall fans, mediocre to us few million Morrowind fans, still good to more millions of Oblivion/Fallout 3 fans and great to the tens of millions of normies and kids who started with it.
But the growth in playerbase seriously slowed down after Fallout 4. Starfield didn't have a playerbase that was 90% first-time RPG, open world or even Bethesda game players. There was a lot more to compare it to.

Skyrim is a true classic, beloved by people across the globe. Morrowtrannies can go kill themselves.

No. What Skyrim pulled off on a 512 MB console was straight-up sorcery. Sure, two years later the 8th gen dropped and games like The Witcher 3 blew up RPG writing to a new level, so Skyrim aged fast. But the fact that, fourteen years later, people still talk about it as the open-world template? That’s proof it wasn’t luck.
