What’s your favorite game controller?

I have the most fun with a Sega Saturn 6-button in my hands.

man idk. dualsense is pretty good except for the shit battery, and also shitty start and select.

You won't find that one controller that's perfect for everything, but the GameCube controller is a favorite for things that are specifically designed for it, like Smash Bros.

I like 8bitdo's SN30 series because it has a d-pad first design ideal for retro or indie games, but I've found them suitable for plenty of games using analogue controls.
It's preferable for the Katamari games for example, since Switch and Xbox controls use asymetrical stick placements.

this controller wouldve been good if it didnt require quarterly maintenance and half year repairs

My ideal controller:
>symmetrical layout with d-pad on top
>Saturn d-pad
>trigger stops
>minimum of 4 extra buttons
>touchpad
>gyro
>haptics
>responsive wireless
Dualsense Edge (dogshit d-pad, fn buttons are awkwardly placed and still change profiles/audio when bound to something else, godawful battery life so you aren't using it wirelessly anyway) and the upcoming Gulikit TT Max (no touchpad or haptics, can only map back buttons to other buttons on the controller) are the closest things I know of

is the switch online gamecube controller worth it?

Look at some of the 8bitdo Pro controllers with Playstation layout, or the Gamesir Tegenaria Lite if you're a cheapskate

If you like the Gamecube controller yeah. Wireless GC controller with rumble and OEM triggers/sticks/membranes. If you're getting a Switch Online sub just for it, don't bother, get a GC Ultimate from Hand Held Legend instead.

Apparently the NSO GC controller has full wireless functionality now from top to bottom.

DualSense's problem is the awful d-pad, Share and Start are fine.

I don't understand how anyone can think the Gamecube controller is the best one. it's okay for Gamecube games, but for anything else it's trash. The d-pad is unusable, it has only 3 shoulder buttons, the r2 button overly long for no reason and it looks kind of like a baby's first controller fisher price toy for toddlers.

It's pretty much an OEM Wavebird without the Wavebird's battery pack and extra buttons. If you want an official controller then yes, it's as official as you can get. The only downside is if you want the best latency it's still best to get the Lossless Adapter and an original controller.
