I don't mind specializing but only getting to max 3 skills out of 12 is extremely fucking gay. I don,t want to have to do 4 playthroughs.

I just downloaded a mod that allows me to get enough skill points for 1 point in every skill every level and to make up for it I banned healing outside of towns.

I'm playing rn (pirated it).
And weren't you able to kill your companions out of the box?

How's the writing?
I liked most of the first Outer Worlds but the writing was retarded enough to ruin my enjoyment of the game. Most of the positive steam replies are "I loved the first game and this is great too!" but the first game was awful because of the retarded writing and these people are retards for liking it.

They didn't, it was an intentional design choice because you could effectively have access to every skill at a high level through companions, and this time around they wanted to restrict that.

Companions do still have the ability to help with this kind of shit out in the field, for example if you have a low observation skill Tristan will use his observation to find it instead.
They just won't be passing all the skill checks in dialogue for you this time around

Ok, I will say it.
This game is significantly better than TOW 1 but it still is kinda mid despite having some good ideas. If they drop all the woke aesthetics and messaging (which already is way less in your face than shit like spiderman 2), while incorporating better animations and details to make the world feel more alive, then TOW 3 will be an actually good game.
