I remember an anon claiming that early paypig access really set the tempo for full release, and I wasn't sure about how right he was, but in both these games, you see, full release is about 30 percent more than paypig.

I'd want more data points to be sure and also to make sure it's not just xbox or obsidian specific or rpg specific, but that's a start.

The audience prefers fantasy settings over space settings, that's why not enough people bought it.
For the mainstream, average gamer setting is more important than gameplay.
And since the gameplay is similar, crpgs fans who are a minority of the playerbase, didn't manage to make the numbers of Avowed.

A good tactic would be to sell the sequel alongside with the previous game(s) but that would lose them money.
Now they will lose even more money because nobody will buy it.
Only strong names who are sure to sell many copies can sell the sequel separately from the previous game(s) and be successful.
