New one is the same boring girl boss side kick trying to be the least offensive as she can to the player like Elizabeth in Bioshock or any other female side kick. It's overdone. It's boring. Not every female character needs to be the same boring girl boss.

Did we play the same game? She was acting like a typical teenager and had an obvious crush for Leon throughout the game. Original Ashley suggests sweet sex only at the very end of the game, sadly for her Leon was long before captured by asian spy pussy. Nu-Ashley is acting like a concerned mother when Leon does crazy stunts in front of her, and comments how Leon would look dashing on a knight armor.

How was she a brat? I thought she was super nice and yes I wanted to protect her, the only time she gets defensive is when someone is genuinely rude to her about the ballistics.

Its the uncanny valley kicking in. Same thing happened with Silent Hill 2 remake where the new models somehow ended up looking weirder than the PS2 models. Lady Dimitrescu and the goth sisters don't invoke as much uncanny valley because their features and heavy makeup are exaggerated to give them a more monster look. Making them more monstrous ironically makes them look less uncanny valley-monstrous. Even then Lady D had an occasional weird as fuck face.
