>ugh turn based JRPGs are so easy!
>meanwhile WRPGs and CRPGs have literal quicksave and quickload hotkeys and nobody bats an eye at this
Make it make sense.

>heh you think this thing that is fundamentally designed to be easy is easy? well look at this other thing that has an optional feature. bet you feel silly now

>games where you can only save at save points are easier than games where you can save anywhere
Case in point.

Games that make you keep playing until you reach a save point just don't respect your time. If I need to stop the game at any given instant, I should be able to do so without punishment.
>but that's too easy
Only if abused, and if I do abuse it, that's my business. I should be able to use it however I want. It's just a toy, which I bought. Video games are toys. You should have grown out of your pride in being good at toys around the time you learned to put each colorful shaped block in the same-shaped hole.

Well the most popular WRPGs are Bethesda games that crash all the time, so quick save is kind of mandatory.

The irony of yapping about toys and “growing up” when you’re throwing a toddler’s temper tantrum because you don’t get to play a game the way YOU want to. Someday you’ll learn the world doesn’t revolve around you, princess.

Stating the opinion that some game I don't play doesn't respect your time isn't a tantrum.

Why. Why do they do this to me. Make it make sense

>you don’t get to use software you purchased the way YOU want to.
Sounds like bad software. Maybe mods will fix it.

you are actually sort of right though not exactly in the way you frame it. the pacing of deaths in the average crpg is glacial, assuming the player is marginally competent you just aren't going to die enough for any kind of checkpoint system to really have much of an effect. it makes sense to just leave the ball in the player's court and let them figure a rule to hold themselves to. it could be full on ironman or saving at the start of dungeons.

classic sierra adventure games are the only legit example I can think of. you need to basically create your own catalog archive system for save states to avoid bricking a play through and losing excessive progress. it is wild how something so player hostile was accepted back then, you almost respect it.

Wrpgs are for babies. Only people who completed new game nightmare with retry offset OFF for sky sc prologue can disagree

Yeah, that's how it works. Crying about a mechanic that doesn't have to be used won't change that.
