I Consider the X series to essentially be the DBZ to Mega Man's Dragon ball. They're almost perfect action games and they will probably never be topped. About to start X1 again

I replay X and X2 fairly often. They get even better once you are good enough to clear mavericks in any order. Also if you are emulating you can overclock the snes CPU to eliminate the slowdowns

I thought X1 was a masterpiece. I thought X2 was kind of an annoying turd to play because the weapons suck so much cock and aren't fun to use or even useful half the time. I havent played X3 yet

I used to think like that in my teens. 25 years later I tried to replay them, but got bored at the end of X1. X4, same. Base 2 and 4, same. Megaman was my favorite franchise, and now I think they suck.

X1, X2 and X4 are great. X3 is okay. X5 is mediocre. X6 is awful, X7 is a crime against humanity and X8 is mediocre.
Such a troubled series. And it's not like you can ignore the bad ones because it was meant to end with X5 and then they retconned it.
I've played all X games and never want to replay X5-X8.
Zero is a much better series. All 4 games are amazing and it's fun from start to finish.

Mega Man X it's unironically the best game in the series and it's not even close. Yes, the sequels have longer levels with gimmicks like bikes and variable ride armor, and those are undeniably cool, but the original is the only one where the zones actually interact with one another; defeating Chill Penguin sends an avalanche crashing into Flame Mammoth's foundry, crashing Storm Eagle's airship disrupts power at Spark Mandrill's powerplant and so forth.

None of the other SNES games even try, they're preoccupied with things that don't enhance gameplay like Mode 7 floating heads.

More or less the same. I can't really stomach the X games anymore. But I do still enjoy some of the classic MM games but only with an emulator because I'm an oldfag without any patience for death.

That's a solid comparison anon. Nowadays when I replay the X series it's X1 air dash patch (includes dashing in the intro), X2 and X3 on the GC X collection (I need the better OST and cutscenes, even if the sfx are whack), X4 and X6 on the XLC. X5 with the improvement patch finally made it an enjoyable game, I love the gaea armor now. Never feel the urge to replay the other games.

X6 is overhated, people claim it is difficult, yet if you equip the D-barrief part, even armorless buster only xtreme is a breeze. People whining about it really shows how terrible they are at video games.

it's hated because every stage is fucking horrible. it might barely be tolerable because it's basically a mod of x4, but every new idea is the worst shit imaginable.

Z was just a name added to the anime adaptation. The manga is all Dragonball. And yes, the MMX games are amazing.
