It's in many ways better.
But SH1 is still THE best game in the series.
Not to mention since 3 is a direct sequel to 1, it literally cannot stand on its own.

Its a very different kind of expiriance imho. Of the OG 3 I think it's my least favorite but it genuinely scares me more than any of the others.

3 is a sequel and like all sequels do, it suffers from lack of originality. But yea it's a good game. Arguably the story of SH2 is better but the art direction and gameplay of 3 is superior.

a lot of spaces in the game are cramped. there's a reason 1 pushed you to run from enemies more when you were outdoors.

No, the story in 2 is way better. i was disappointed when I played 3 but i really liked the hospital section of silent hill 3 even if it was a rehash

the prison in silent hill 2 had a very surreal horror to it, I thought it was very creepy. Silent hill 3 is just in your face about it

I think I like SH3 even less than Homecoming.
to me it feels like a series of loosely connected levels. even more than sh4 does. good music though

To me SH3 is still the scariest game I've ever played, shit is terrifying as soon as you go down the elevator at the mall.

3 is pretty fun, but I think 1 and 2 are better. 4 has some great concepts, but the gameplay is terrible. If there were one game worth remaking in the series, it would be The Room. SHR will definitely be butchered; a remaster would've been better, but it wouldn't sell too well because normies have never played with tank controls and dislike anything but the generic ots gameplay from the RE remakes or TLOU.
