It's really bizarre how it fell off a cliff, the open beta was very well received, and then the full game was just way too easy. The first monster you fight ides in like 3 minutes.

Fundamentally there's nothing wrong with Wilds, but it's just not interesting. None of it. And I never bought into the whole 'Monster Hunter is only fun when you're getting your teeth kicked in' when that rhetoric comes from people who played Freedom Unite when they were 10. Wilds Weapons feel subpar or have changes I don't agree with, Sekreit is inferior to Rise's dogs in every conceivable way possible, and procedurally generated hunts and tempered farming for end game is about as fun as it was in World aka not very. The returning monsters in the TUs are either shit I killed many times over in Rise already or inferior to what's been given to us before, and I don't care about Final Fantasy in the slightest so Omega's just a fight to ignore.

Part of that had to do with World's elder crossing bullshit on top of making us do Elder gauntlets four games in a row during 5th gen. I think having elders in Wilds was a big missed opportunity when they could've unveiled something new that's just hanging out and doing whatever since there's no hunters arouind to get rid of it. Or hell something newer players haven't done yet like Jhen or Dah'ren Mohran could've have been found in that vast desert, or even an Oroshi Kirin in the ice maps. From my experience with the game, it was more to do with the only monsters I was fighting boiled down to Arkveld, Magala, and Jin Dahaad because if you wanted the best parts for artian weapons that's all you had to work with. Elders are just the late game monsters you hunt for the best gear, but Wilds probably has the least options on offer for what to hunt for the best gear. Well, now you have more options but Capcom might be taking the complaints that the game is too easy in the wrong direction with more monsters with attacks that can bitch slap you into oblivion in a single hit.

To be honest, I much prefer Wilds over Wild Hearts. But that's because MH is a much more mature series. Despite some of the questionable new additions, the core of the mechanics is still strong. WH had some interesting ideas (like the weapon tree) and some very unrefined systems (like everything armor related). A second pass to improve on everything in a sequel could produce a very good game, but I doubt EA wants to throw more money at them.

Capcom has some of the best devs in the industry, and yet the MH main team is consistently the bottom of the barrel. Wilds proves again they have no idea how to actually make a functioning game.

The combat is good, but the monsters can't keep up at all, and world feels even more like a theme park than pre-World. I don't like the story but its not like I've ever cared about the story in MH. World was just boring mostly but Wilds enters funny-bad territory whenever Nata is on screen.

Performance is annoying but I can still run it fine.

The open world aspect is a total meme since everyone has to be in the same zone in multiplayer, all it does is fuck the performance.

But I like the new monsters and movesets which is 90% of the game and the reason I bought it. I got hyper autistic and ran through the WHOLE nexus mod list for wilds, every mod, and checked which ones are now broken since TU2.5 or TU3, and then how many are abandonned. Why? eh, why not.

So, why coomers specifically? TU2.5 and TU3 changed the way the game loads skin textures, meshes, and NPC meshes respectively.
you need to have updated your mods. any mod that ended with .mdf2.45 are broken. This meant any creator that abandonned the game, their mods will simply no longer work and cannot be fixed externally.
Several music or sound mods broke, since capcom is INCOMPETANT and puts ALL the music into ONE long file that the game references, not seperate tracks, this means if they ever add music, all those music mods break. If the creator left, boom, dead mod.

This issue is so bad because, compared to world or rise, which also got outdated or abandonned mods, more than half of the mods for wilds no longer work, and the few creators who commented said performance is #1 on the reason why they left.

Capcom actually finally killed mods through poor design, bad optimisation, and needless changes. No one wants to put the time in making one for a game that cant even turn on properly.

I still like playing wilds, as an autistic MH megafan who unashamedly plays every single MH since the first, once it came to PC I was so excited at the mod potential. World and Rise, coomer aside, really just excell on PC, significantly better experiences modding out spiribirds or clawslop and such.

On the topic of graphics and art direction, it's frustrating how Wilds is legitimately beautiful half of the time, and the other half it looks like a desaturated low contrast mess. World suffered from the same problem, Rise was legitimately ugly most of the time, but it's the most frustrating with Wilds.

When did I say I was playing the game religiously? I DID play the game religiously when TU3 dropped cause I love Omega. Played around 50 hours in the first week alone but now that I've done everything with Omega I'm back to waiting for TU4 so right now I am not playing Wilds. Wilds honestly has a pretty terrible end game in terms of the actual mechanics involved and the monsters you hunt in it. Artian weapons are one of the worst systems ever conceived and the talisman system was ruined by them hyper limiting the already limited 9* roster to just 4 fucking monsters.
