The weirdest part to me is that even though they did this drastic redesign of DK's face, they just throw it into Mario stuff like nothing has changed. It feels like gaslighting on a massive scale. We've had the same DK design for over two decades, and suddenly he needs this drastic, overarching redesign? And this comes after they've already made all the theme park stuff with the DKC design everyone is already familiar with. I just don't understand it.

Mario Wonder isn't a significant change. He still looks like Mario in Tennis and Party. They didn't make a completely different character then pretend Mario always looked like this. Also Mario doesn't look significantly worse. And there's reverse halo effect from people whining and bitching about New Super Mario Bros all the time. Donkey Kong no one ever said he wasn't expressive enough until after the redesign.
