I have been making cheat engine tables since 2006, prior to that I used ArtMoney and released those on Russian BBSs, before that I made GameShark codes and posted them on the GameShark forums from 1997 until 2001. I hacked Doom 2 and Quake 2 with ArtMoney to cheat on multiplayer, and then when Counter-Strike came out, I wrote and released OpenGL cheats and aimbots. I still make cheats for modern games both single player and multiplayer. Nobody knows what my handle is for multiplayer cheats, but it's hilarious, the same people I see on leddit praising my single-player cheat mods for crap like Fallout and STALKER are the same ones coping and seething about my PUBG and Apex Legends cheat. But I also hack Valorant, GTA V, Fortnite, Battlefield 6 and Rust.

Makes games with randomized loot tables playable. I don't know why Jap devs think putting some 0.034% drop rate item in a single player game is fun.

also how do you know what type of value to search? 4 bytes seem pretty standard but then I couldn't find what I was looking for with it enough times so I just default to "all" now, which is unfortunately much slower

A lot of it is setting save states and then simply searching for any values that have changed while reverting and progressing over and over. Sometimes itll show up as a sequence. A long time ago I made some cheats for persona 3 on the ps2 emulator and it had all the social stats saved as a block like 030609 where 03-06-09 were all the separate social stats. If you are persistent you can typically find shit.

It makes replaying games so much better

My problem with using cheat engine with emulators are pointers. I can find basic shit easily, its just trying to get things to stay that goes over my head. Pointer maps produce no results. Even using scripts like trying to find what writes to an address gives me no results. Things I can do easily on any normal PC game, I just can't seem to do on emulation.

People easily (seriously it was done with a basic black bitch coding/decoding tool) removed the 'security'
In the meantime opencheattables popped up. It was started by thecallmetim13. During this time STN gave up, went to Group X (Chinese malware group) and asked them to pay and in return, they'd be allowedto advertise mod engine (a malware/scamware app)

Now, after this, during covid theycallmetim died. Problem with this is, nobody could access the original opencheattables hosting account since he had it. So it expired, group x/mod engine scam group bought it so then a new site had to be started called opencheatables but .org not .com

And now we're here, where every single table by theycallmetim is now changed to a link to modengine along with around 90% of new tables being straight links to the malware's site when you open it

Meh. Cheating is fun but the community and people surrounding it are such cancer that I'm rapidly losing interest and genuinely considering quitting.
I don't even cheat myself anymore, I just maintain my code for a few friends of mine to use because I enjoy the challenge. Started out December last year because I adamantly refused to pay for an existing menu and figured I'd give it a shot myself because why not. Found the player object and the position fields & wrote a quick teleporter. That later expanded into ESP, bounding boxes, noclip, hooking the game's console/scripting system to execute arbitrary commands, being able to crash other players, item duplication, a whole host of shit to mess with the game's social system, etc. etc. etc. Even managed to completely bypass the custom anti-cheat.
Then my account got banned for an unrelated reason, and even though I have it back now, I just have no desire to touch that game anymore.

So at this point I just want something new to mess with, but I barely play any multiplayer games and I sure as hell am not reversing VMProtect and whatever other shit they put on kernel anti-cheats myself (I did mess with EDK2 and EFI shit a bit but nothing really came of it) so I don't really know what to do.
Now I do have a friend who's close to some other cheat devs that sell a menu, and I expressed some interest in maybe getting in with them since I have nothing else to do and it could be an interesting experience, but he just said they're "gatekeepy and probably wouldn't let anyone in" so nothing came of that.
So I have zero interest in starting up a project myself for a game I don't play, and who the fuck is just going to let some random into their existing project? While I can gatekeep (see: I never released my menu), I sure as hell don't enjoy being gatekept, and that's basically how the whole cheating community feels - if you don't know anyone you're doomed.

I tried to get CheatEngine working on Linux trough wine/proton with games that ofc also was ran trough proton but I could not figure out how to hook the game properly. It should work but I had to throw in the towel.
