Why is there such a huge market for these dinosaur consoles when you can just emulate and get something like a Thor? Am I missing something?

It's understandable when a hardware has some physical gimmick that can't be emulated. In this case, the 3D effect.

I loved the glasses free 3D effect, felt like looking into a diorama

Unless we are talking about special editions, 3dses are usually cheaper than Thors. Also 3ds emulation is still iffy atm so you are essentially paying more for a cheap imitation.

The 3DS graphics sucked and were for babies. Fuck everyone for not buying the vita during its lifespan. I hate all of you.

Basically this. Outside a few games that benefit due to the increased framerate most have some issue that fuck with emulation. I remember how long it took for the original DS emulator to get to a good state. Also the 3DS is easy as piss to hack and add games for so on top of being cheep as fuck so why wouldn't you just buy one instead of working with illy emulation?

I bought a launch vita, a vita tv, and a slim vita. I also bought a 3ds, a new 3ds, and a new 3ds xl.

It was very cool, and I was and still am impressed by it, but it was the kind of feature you'd use once, say 'woah cool', and then turn off, only turning if on again to show it to others.

Playing with it for too long would make anyone cross-eyed I'll tell you that much

I liked to play AC:NL, the Ace Attorney trilogy, Pokémon (Y and Alpha Sapphire) and the little Nintendo minigames and apps.

the touchscreen doesn't emulate great for games that actively use it like KIU.

The 3D effect helped A Link Between Worlds and Super Mario 3D Land gameplay, specially the latter, levels were designed with depth perception in mind.

Childhood consoles got popular because new games are shit and expensive. That and nostalgic society syndrome. Everything is so tasteless with internet that people has to look back.

Even if you don't care about the 3D effect 3DS emulation is TERRIBLE. Half the games don't work or have tons of graphical issues and there is constant stuttering no matter what your settings are.

Because playing games on native hardware while it's still available is 1,000 times better than some faggoty chink handheld or emulating the game in 4k with errors on a PC like some fucking poorfag retard.

Also this is a big bonus. It's gonna be crazy in the future when there's fewer systems to go around an nobody can emulate the 3D effect.

Never had any problems with it, the only game I played on 2D was MH3U for the 60fps, have this card and always loved the holographic effect, all 3DS games looked like this

With homebrew all GB, GBC, GBA, DS, DSI ware, and 3DS games on a single console, official hardware, none of the saving difficulties of emulators with a backlight for the non-backlit consoles. It also runs genesis, snes, and with the new models several PS1 games. All portable. Most people owned at least some DS games as a kid, so they think 'okay I'll buy one to replay this, and sell it again if I get bored,' but they don't get bored because it's an emulation tank.
>well if I buy another I'll have one when this one breaks
>well if I buy a third I can play with my boyfriend/niece/nephew/brother/sister/cousin/mom/dad
>well this fourth one is my favorite color
>well this fifth one is a special edition I always wanted
>I kinda want the 'new' version now
They buy the cheapest one they can find, usually small old ones, then make at least two upgrades, and pass it along to family.

If that works for you it works for you. It goes without saying but everybody is like this now. Why don't you just X why come you Y? Is he stupid?

I messed around with DS emulation for awhile and it was really annoying. It's hard to replicate a touch screen. It makes sense to just get the console and a flashcart.
