With homebrew all GB, GBC, GBA, DS, DSI ware, and 3DS games on a single console, official hardware, none of the saving difficulties of emulators with a backlight for the non-backlit consoles. It also runs genesis, snes, and with the new models several PS1 games. All portable. Most people owned at least some DS games as a kid, so they think 'okay I'll buy one to replay this, and sell it again if I get bored,' but they don't get bored because it's an emulation tank.
>well if I buy another I'll have one when this one breaks
>well if I buy a third I can play with my boyfriend/niece/nephew/brother/sister/cousin/mom/dad
>well this fourth one is my favorite color
>well this fifth one is a special edition I always wanted
>I kinda want the 'new' version now
They buy the cheapest one they can find, usually small old ones, then make at least two upgrades, and pass it along to family.
