Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2. FACT. Yo-Kai Watch 3 is great too.
While we are on this subject, what is more important to you? Viability or Uniqueness? In my opinion, the people who play a game where a selling point is the large number of different characters you can put in your party, and then want all of them just to be glorified skins, are morons and should be mocked.

ive been wanting to play one of these, whats so good about this one? >what is more important to you? Viability or Uniqueness?
Ideally you would have both so uniqueness with some customization so if a monster you you like is shit you can still get it to be usable
>>724605013 >so if a monster you you like is shit you can still get it to be usable
Exactly. Otherwise the game just devolves into a meta where everybody is using the same thing from a small pool of viable endgame monsters.

Monster Sanctuary managed to pull off everything being both viable and unique. While you can't just pick three random monsters and expect to win, you can easily pick any one monster to build your team around.

Yeah, definitely the weakest part. I still think the gameplay makes up for it, but I can see how someone that plays creature collectors purely for the creatures might bounce off the game.

Viability but to an extent. I want there to be "basic" monsters that are there to flesh out the world and exist but they're not viable unless you use an Everstone equivalent to do so and even then they're not all viable. It pretty much makes it so that there's ultimately more stuff that can work or synergize in the end instead of only making final evolutions or endgame monsters the best.

The unfortunate redpill is Pokemon is better than like 90% of the genre even accounting for the shittiest games in the series
Pokemon romhacks bring that up to 99%

Romhacks are gay. They're just an excuse for even the Pokemon fans with some semblance of a backbone to still hole up in their Pokemon bubble and never try another RPG.

If Pokemon haters actually played other RPGs themselves those games would have better sales, but in reality they hate the genre itself which is why the only breakout success in ages has been Palworld.
