Spoilers are a problems from morons. I have not player, for example Fallout 3 and have 0 spoilers. Not that I will player it, but I literately have no clue about it's plot.
I can now play it, if i wished, with much better performance, not to mention probably millions of additional content from mods.

Why? It will be free/or extremely cheap years later. Zero reasons not to and millions to do so.
Ten years is just a random numbers, you can do it in 3,4 years.
Many games are given for free, can be pirated or bought for a dollar and were priced 60 at launch.
Ignore mods completely, if a game is worth playing at launch it is 100 times more logical to play it later when you can benefit from better hardware and better tech.
I am literary saying what you are, just adding that it's a waste of money to buy them on release and buying them (or pirating) later is EXACTLY the same as at launch just with additional benefits.

I'd say it isn't validation more so, a group experience. It feels better to experience and discover things when a game is new and there are still secrets. It's something to talk about with other anons where you guys can share what you found so far that others may have not and it's one of the last organic forms of discovery left in the industry. When you play a game late, you kind of miss out on that. Everything is already on a wiki somewhere and so there's no point in talking about the things you've discovered because the novelty has worn off now and all the fans of said series are privy to everything the game has to offer.

Some people get stuck on shit, so they use wikis, idk. You're assuming I actually buy games on release. My argument is the fact that the knowledge you're gaining when the game is new feels novel because it's not on a wiki or officially listed on a site yet. The knowledge you have is something only (You) can have if you played the game at that moment. That's my point.
