you don't really need to play the first game. it's an entirely different story set in an entirely different location. the second one is just way better in terms of rpg mechanics

I like it a lot but holy fuck does it crash a lot on loading a save with the ue5 fatal error.
Once I am in the map it runs perfectly fine. Made the mistake of jumping into a rift and died. Now need to gamble my way back in through the loading screen.

It feels dated, sluggish and combat has a loose unsatisfying feeling, stealth is useless. Comedy doest hit like hell diver or starship troopers and tension doesnt hit like mass effects dialogue. Basically its shit

stealth can be pretty op if you build right. I only have stealth 2 and I'm one shotting most mooks on the second planet with my silenced plasma pistol + the buff from Aza. and combat is ok, I think it plays better at higher fps but given the shitty optimization that could be hard to achieve without lowering graphics settings a lot.

I agree about the tone of the game though. the hyped capitalist vs hyper authoritarian parody doesn't really land. there are some genuinely funny moments but a lot of the humor isn't funny. the one thing that works really well is player choice and how the world reacts to your choices.

you have a lot of freedom to do whatever. you can kill important leaders and quest givers whenever you want and the game will account for it. the game also allows you to just roleplay as evil with choices that let you kill people and even entire towns for the lulz

Stealth becomes entirely broken once you get better guns to put silencers on. You get an 800% sneak attack bonus on a gun that already does a ton of damage, aim for head, get ricochet, take out two people everytime you headshot because the ricochet gets the sneak attack bonus

The first one, in my humble opinion, isn't worth the 15 euros I paid for it, so I'd wager you should wait for a discount next month and buy it at 40$ tops, or else if I were you I'd feel really scammed.

A large percentage of male NPCs in New Vegas talk down to you, and after the 40th one it starts to get old. Someone at Obsidian has a humiliation fetish and it’s ingrained in pretty much all their writing.

Due to having the flaw where I get +50% magazine capacity (but -40% damage for 8s after a reload) and wearing a hard hat my triple barrelled shotgun holds 7 rounds.
