This is the kind of people writing modern videogames. I haven't thought about that before but it makes so much sense. BloodLines 2, Dispatch, God of War, Outworld 2 and every other redditor, unfunny, ironic, safe-edgy, shitty spineless, castrated games employ this manner of writing dialogue and characters and they're written BY PEOPLE LIKE THIS. Modern games are all filled with snarky, obnoxious, loud, insufferable characters and dialogue. There's absolutely no sincerity or heart in them because the devs are spineless soulless castrated pussies scared out of their mind to write something GENUINE because being real is CRINGE. Every line has to sound smirky, condescending to the player, YOU SEE SEE ISN'T IMMERSING YOURSELF WITHIN THIS WORLD CRINGE??? like every character knows they're in on the "joke" of being in a videogame. Because they think playing games is CRINGE, having actual characters believing in the world they inhabit is CORNY so they write the whole game around treating the player (you) like a STREAMER, not an actual person within the world. They need to check the CHAT to tell them how to react to a genuine work of artistic expression OKAY??? They're fucking writing themselves into videogames, as in they're not making characters who live in this strange fantasy videogame world, they're writing themselves and how THEY would react to being in this silly-ass corny-ass videogame world that's why every line of dialogue is either mocking the game, the player, or making a 2025 style marvel reddit-and-morty quip that's it. Notice how they all have little to no witty or original commentary to give while playing games, only constantly displaying their incredulity instead, rolling their eyes, and doing their little shitty nervous laugh. She had a good reason, and Kratos knew deeply why she was furious. Besides she was hardly a threat, the only advantage she had on Kratos was surprise.

The whole game he's trying to get Atreus to sit still until he realizes that Odin is not going to leave them alone. He threatens Freya, the Dwarves, and Odin for getting in his way on different occasions. And Mimir usually sides with Kratos more often than not.

I don't know why people call out conflict like they're plot holes. There would be no story at all if everyone saw eye-to-eye everytime.

he is portrayed completely out of character. none of his actions are justified given his history, not even the history of the previous game where he tried to kill balder every chance he got. the conflict is nonsensical if you've played any of the previous games. "Kratos is a pacifist, and his friends try to convince him to be violent." that's utterly pathetic as a pitch, and it should've been vetoed day one. the writers wanted an arc where the character learns to be anti-establishment for blue sky upvotes, and they did not care how stupid that is in God of War 8.

You're only just now realizing? I thought this was universally known. It impacts TV shows and movies, too.
