Actually got most of them ironically.
2 and 3 got localized by careersoft into a single game (growlanser generations).
4 and 5 by Atlus
1 and 6 were missing. But both got english patches available.
So yeah, we have the whole series in english.
Here hoping we can get langrisser 3 and 5 next.

The bigger problem is that the releases are a bit of a clusterfuck. 1 got skipped, 2, 3, and 5 were released by Working Designs so their localisations are dog shit, 4 came out years later on the PSP from Atlus so it's at least not as bad comparatively, and 6 never got an English release either.
You can jump in with 4 and not miss anything or actually start with 1 now I guess but who knows what the quality of this patch is like.

Yeah... Funny you mention the japanese audio. The thing is that the undub patch for 2/3 is EXTREMELY unstable in pcsx2. Theh can and will crash on you out of nowhere, and the game can freeze at the end of each mission. You have to use some cheats to turn off fmvs. It's pretty funky.

But these games are somewhat of an RTS. Not starcraft tier or something like that, but yeah, games are real time strategy, so you have to direct your units.
It also has a lot of player agency. These games even let you side with the bad guys. 4 has an extremely famous evil route where you betray EVERYONE (except one guy) and become ruler of the world.

Alright, we got an animated intro.
That's pretty cool. Later games only have still images of the characters.
As for the song, it's pretty meh.
I think 2 has the best intro of them all. On the Road by Hironobu Kageyama is such a great song, full of energy and it pumps you up for an adventures.

For starters, i think the spritework is quite pretty.
The backgrounds are pretty cartoony which is different from later games, and i think it works better here.

They're the closest thing to Japanese CRPGs, I guess.
They play less like traditional JRPGs and more like Baldur's Gate and other late 90s/early 2000s Western CRPGs, with the thing setting it apart from CRPGs are the anime artstyle and Japanese tropes.

the MC can be built into a good wizard regardless of the stat growths. I think he could be considered the second best offensive caster in the game. obviously high int growth makes it more powerful but it has more to do with what spells you have access to and what gear you can equip. the MC can equip swords so he'll have access to int raising caster sword (and later on a sword that lets you use an OP spell when equipped) and he has access to learn powerful offensive spells as baseline.

It removed the auto battle system from the original. It's native widescreen because the original psp was 16:9. Some new tracks. That's about it.

having translated before, I feel like this is more an incompetence issue than a malicious one. Translating several books worth of content is grueling, boring, and usually unrewarding, especially since most fan translators aren't actually completely fluent in Japanese (they tend to be pretty good though) so every once in a while it might take several hours to research the meaning of just a single sentence to truly translate it properly. The problem is that people get tired and slack off for months at a time and just don't want to continue or can't continue due to incompetence rather than because they want the game to remain untranslated because of a grudge or something.

Also it's not exactly an honor system, more a "oh, someone else is already translating this game, I should spend my efforts somewhere else rather than waste my time and have them finish up in the middle of my translation"
