What are you guys playing for spooky night?
Anonymous No.724664538 [Report]
Unfortunately I got addicted to Core Keeper because I finally managed to overcome my autism and start making some creative shit for fun so I have to put off the spooks for later but I have lined up:

-Alisa
-SH1 yearly replay (might try to 10 star it, I've beaten the game like a dozen times on hard but never actually bothered with rankings)
-SH2 remake replay (might give up, I started already but got bored just running around before the apartments, hard is too annoying especially with the animation cancelling knife nurses but normal is too easy, I've killed like a dozen Lying Figures and not been hit once)
-Castlevania ReVamped
-A bunch of short itch.io spooky games like Slide in the Woods
-Amnesia: The Bunker
-Hollowbody (dropped this a while back again due to boredom, might retry)
-The Evil Within
-Tormented Souls

Excellent choice OP, you better be going for the true ending.

also dropping kinda Halloween themed fap material to get the thread going:

I'm thinking about emulating that one Scooby Doo platformer on the PS2 since I played it as a kid but never beat it.

Labyrinth of The Demon King. Took awhile to get used to the combat but I’m getting a little better at it instead of getting bodied by basic bitch demons. Curious about NG+ they just added.

I still need to play that, I remember playing the demo and thinking the combat was a bit odd. I get the blocking and whatnot, very similar to Condemned (especially with the way enemies lurk around corners to ambush you) but there didn't seem to really be any reason at all to do anything but power attacks. Kicking takes too much stamina and only breaks their block for a moment, quick attacks also take too much stamina and don't stagger or hit nearly as hard as power attacks. It also had that Condemned thing going where enemies will sometimes quickly counter attack after you bonk them, but unlike that game you CAN'T block fast enough after your own attack to intercept it, so I ended up just using power attacks and backing away after each one to avoid retaliation. Boosting stamina with your incense or whatever resource it was ASAP is basically mandatory/

I learned that different weapons have different light attack combos, which in turn do different statuses and shit like that.
I’m still mostly just power attack spamming and doing my best to not get instantly punished by feints by learning to actually block, but I’m assuming your moveset has more utility to it later? Not really sure, found a katana that applies poison and bought a hatchet from the nekomata lady.
I like it a lot so far but can see why people would get turned away from it fast.

If I find the mood I plan to start Labyrinth of the Demon King, if not then maybe some smaller spooks from itch. And then some Phasmophobia if the boys can make it tonight.

I find it really weird there's never been a single game where you're a stereotypical mad scientist who builds monsters to terrorize NPCs

No but seriously is the mom high? Why are americans like this? Incredibly sad, hope blowing up poor people and their boats help your society (it wont lel)

I would play that. There's not enough games in general where you just terrorize people.

I've been playing Dementium The Ward, but I am horrendous at avoiding damage in the game.

Is this shit actually worth playing or is it only notable as an oddity for being a DS game?

It's not scary if that's what you mean, but the visuals and music are nice. The atmosphere paired with the music and a sort of "claustrophobic" feeling you get from having basically no visibility without the flashlight makes it feel more like a comforting nightmare if anything. You definitely do feel immersed, but I'm honestly I'm playing it because I have nothing else to play and I never finished it on DS.
I dunno, buy if cheap maybe.

Nanashi No Game is the odd ds horror game that you should play without any spoilers on the original hardware for a truly unique gaming experience.

The original version had an annoying set up where you were basically constantly switching weapons and toggling the map because you can only use one hand, pc controls make that a lot less tedious and jarring. I don't know of any content changes but this is based on the 3DS version which fixed a bunch of stuff like a lot of respawning enemies, and obviously it looks way better and has more options like CRT filters if you want.

in Lobotomy Corp you manage and research monsters and try to keep them from escaping

That'd be neat. I imagine an RTS with a creature creator and also you can go down to ground level and play as the creature.

Like Spore, but... good.
