My favorite part of COVID is that Trump was simultaneously regarded as anti-vax and also the one who authorized the vaccine, whichever made him look worse depending on who you were trying to argue you point against. And also I loved how the BLM protestors were all immune to COVID which is why they were allowed to stand next to each other but everybody else had to be six feet apart, vaccinated, behind a glass wall, and wearing a face mask outdoors.

Also I loved when the companies made us isolate for 3 months and they tried to reward us for getting vaxxed by giving us free high-fructose corn syrup sugar circles (free donuts).

It seems like everything is getting worse.

Remember there was a time when video games were improving every few years. Like the difference between Smash Bros 1 and Smash Bros Melee was staggering in just a few years.

There used to be actual improvements between new consoles, everything in the vidya industry is just staying the same now, or getting worse.

And for society, people used to be optimistic, before you were born apparently, but there was a time people were excited to see what the world would be like in 2 years, I feel like for the last 10 years, everyone has been afraid of what will go wrong in the next 2 years or less. And this trend is getting worse with people fearing every day ahead of them now. It was not like this before.

We used to be excited about new technology too. Every new invention was making our lives easier and improving upon what we had. Now every update makes everything worse, we dread whenever a new AI model comes out because we know it spells doom for our society.

More time in your life means more frame of reference means more shit goes fast. When you're 12 you don't have a lot of memories to show the passage of time. I only really vividly remember to 6 years old prior to that it's more hazy "I should remember that I remember XYZ". When you're 24 now it's more, 30 it's more, ect.

But yeah, it throws me for a loop all the same.

To the other bit, fenatyl floyd rioting and the whole woke air that came with it was such a vivid glimpse into what those periods of religious hysterical mania were like in the past. It was modern day flagellants, and the sheer complete memoryhole of people's behavior during that speaks to how much shame and humiliation they feel for having been carried along by it. I really wish we had gotten a proper reckoning but it hasn't happened and won't. The medical institutions earned every single ounce of contempt and distrust because of their behavior during covid for that.

Some of that is the state of the world but it's also just internet doomerism solicited at best by sad cunts and at worst by absolutely evil, sadistic freaks who want to make others miserable for no reason other than glee at causing pain. Not trolling for comedy, just "I want to make others feel bad because it makes me feel good". Get away from social media and things are bad for sure, but not AS bad as social media has it.
