Good. I'd prefer them to fix shit and expand endings and other story content too. Alternate and expanded true ending options, post game secret shit etc. I've not played 2 as of yet, but if this new direction means they won't pull the same kind of bullshit that the Dusa "relationship" led to in Hades 1, thenso much the better. I'm still annoyed they didn't allow a true relationship after there was so much call in the playerbase for it.

Wait. Except the part about Chronos, that's a huge fucking downgrade.
Melinoe being so autistic and gungho on her singular task that she had spent her entire immortal life seeing through, to the point of not even considering or seeing other possibilities unlike the laid back Zag, was a huge part of her character.
And if everyone except Hecate remembers the alternate timeline, then most of the drama of not living in that timeline is lost. It was like the core driving motivator for Chrono's character shift to begin with, and Melinoe (and others) not even remembering that timeline, wondering what they may or may not have lost/missed out on, and striving for reconciliations anyway, was kind of sweet you know.

Now just to make it clear before someone starts bitching. I thought the ending was overall poorly executed. Extremely sudden. Massive whiplash. Poorly justified.
But that doesn't mean it was void of merit in all aspects and degrees.
I don't know.

I'm glad someone else thinks so. People suck off the narrative in Hades 1 and 2 but it's utterly uninteresting and the characters are boring. Very fun games, but the stories and writing are horribly dull.

the problem is they didn't want to release the end of the story before full release, which makes sense. But it's really just a messy situation all around.
Hades 2 suffers from being too much like the original in format, while changing too much about the themes and setting. The stuff that worked well together in hades 1 like the way the themes and characters interacted with the roguelike format actually work a lot worse in the sequel because the story is too different. Even though hades 2 is mechanically really good, it feels less satisfying because of how frankenstiened it is from the original.
so it's less that fixing stuff is bad, and more that these problems should never have happened in the first place

I put 130hrs in Hades 1 as it was my first game I got with my gaming pc (3080, new at the time)

i havent played frenchpedition64 yet but i liked hades 1 a lot and wasn't really into hades 2. I enjoyed playing it and got the basic ending but nowhere near as 1 and as far as "writing" part of the game goes i don't really like anything and "gameplay" got stale fast so i just kept playing to see the end.

I've heard a lot of complains that this game is worse than the first one in terms of pure gameplay - mainly that the weapons are not as interesting and enemies are tedious damage sponges. tldr: I'd say gameplay is better, but not hugely so.
First had emphasis on dodges with iframes wich second removes, but this just requires adjusting to it.
Overall the game "feels" better to play but:
Boons are still just okay as mechanic and don't really interact with each other. Weapons are 50/50, some are fine, others shit. Some special aspects make shit weapons good. Not too much bullshit enemies except some high heat elite perk combos.
Magic is cool addition but also it's just so you can't spam special moves, but then you get anything to regenerate mana and you spam them anyway. Locations are better imo. Bosses some are good others eh.

Elysium was usually the point where the fun immediately ground to a halt if you got unlucky in 1.
