No it was because it was a burned DVD-R that the PS2 was having trouble reading. The image jitter was just the entire game locking up for a tiny fraction of a second every 5 seconds as it struggled to buffer the music from the disc. I burned it at 4X speed. Burning at a lower speed might have gotten better results I don't know, I haven't tried. The legit copy works perfectly and also my PS2 disc drive sounds so much healthier reading it. Regardless, I think the PAL version would have caused much worse problems than just that little jitter.

So that was Klonoa 2. I had a great time. It's such a beautiful story. A perfect sequel to the first game, they really knocked it out of the park. These games just stick with you in your soul, I think about them a lot and I always will. The message of Klonoa 2 is something everyone should think about and integrate into their lives. No game speaks to me or makes me feel at the same level as Klonoa 2.
And I really like how this game is more mechanically complex than the first game. It builds on the first game in a mature and refined way in both gameplay and story. It's literally ludo. Klonoa 2 is just such a perfect bookend to the series that it does seem kinda good in a way that it was never followed up on, GBA games notwithstanding. I don't think it could be done in a way that wouldn't cheapen the ending and message of this game.
I'm sad that it's over, but sadness is ok.

After playing it on original hardware, I do honestly feel like PCSX2 is probably still "ok enough" for most people, if you can figure out which specific build has the least bugs for this game (that will be a huge hassle, cuz I know some problems got fixed at some point, but then there were regressions and more problems appeared later). I had a really great time playing it this way, it's the best for sure, but I understand that setting up a PS2 and a huge ass heavy CRT isn't viable for a lot of people. I don't really feel like I was cheated, having my first playthrough be on PCSX2; the vast majority of the original vision still came across fine (granted I didn't have a build where the credits crashed, that probably would have sucked).
But most importantly, I can't say that the Phantasy Reverie remake would be "ok enough" by any stretch of the imagination. If someone's choice is between playing the remake or not playing it at all, they should not play it. It baffles my mind that they felt they need to "modernize" any of the graphics, as the game holds up perfectly fine with its stylized art direction. The original vision was fully realized on the PS2. The Phantasy Reverie remake of Klonoa 2 is like if Sega remade fucking Jet Set Radio with hyperrealistic Unreal engine graphics and no cel shading. Just the fact that they changed any of the graphics shows that everyone involved in that travesty was absolutely clueless and should frankly be charged with some kind of crime.

Lunatea should be renamed to Copenhagen because that's all they do there, cope.
