I don't know when the last time you played was but as of the current beta the cumulative healing chance you suggested is in the game. The wound mechanics really tend to teeter between either "This is trivial" or "I'm gonna fucking die and I can't do anything", but changes to pills and healing items recently have improved the situation a bit. The real secret is to just always have some batteries to fire up an autodoc, or fight some demons and suck down a gavakh. Food wise you can use plastic to make food in bulk or just carry antibiotics and eat the people you kill, some characters/classes even benefit from cannibalism. At low levels the demons it attracts can be an issue but when the human enemies start having higher tier guns they usually smoke the monsters before they become too much of an issue. The devs are definitely dragging ass on polish and QoL features but they're getting there.
