The Unity ending is a anti-thesis to the regular endings. In the regular ending (You) are "holding the mirror" to the Visitor to show itself you guys are different and that it is doing a lot of damage to the planet and should leave, but in this ending you are "becoming The mirror" based on what Sybil learned, in that moment when his influence wasn't over earth, at the time, gave The Visitor the notion it is seeing a piece of itself that it needs to collect. The reason Sybil was able to write the note because she broke the telescope.

I had like 2 after going back into Apartment 35 and walking around, got the first one from the parking garage and used it on the eye TV and the sapper charge on the spine room door. Killed the pancreas, intestines, kidneys, and heart but the other organs are STILL fucking me up hard

There's an Iris Key in the crack in the wall at the very bottom of the parking garage, you can only get it during/after the blackout. The entrances that take Iris Keys I've found are

it's pretty much the only way you can, you have to go out of your way to get Unity after making the promise anyway. Just remember the next time you sleep not to accidentally mash because that's the only time you're allowed to save anymore, once you start Unity you're basically locked in if you're on the last few days and killing all the minibosses in a short timeframe might fuck you over if you didn't explore meat world enough beforehand

I play it on steam deck and the only issue I have is at least once a session, the audio will crackle hard. I can fix it using luxtorpedia and selecting (I believe its called) NW.js but unfortunately it causes the meat world to bounce the framerate constantly and I can’t figure out how to cap the framerate when using that.

kind of feel like I ruined the game for myself by doing a cursed run as my first one since launch. I can't really enjoy a lot of the content because I'm trying to be as optimal as I can with half remembered knowledge. I've only had two merchants and the injured guy show up, I'm at the start of day 3 (which I've died on plenty of times or did something retarded and restarted)
I just need one more companion to deal more damage, I've been relying on molotovs and fire bombs to deal with more difficult fights. But the tentacles and the bus brigade have shown me that I won't be able to brute force my way through the game for much longer

That whole zone is clearly an untested beta. The performance in that dungeon is bizarre on the steam deck, especially if I try to run it without proton using a native linux fix. Yes, in fact that is the best way IMO to do cursed difficulty. Theres basically 100% guaranteed way to get 4 party members with only 2 mandatory encounters of which both are guaranteed successes within the strat.

The Shade ending has Sam experience infinite sensory feedback and literally generate a new universe in his mind that he becomes God over. The Visitor can theoretically let you become a universe-shaping god if you can convince it hard enough that this is what you're meant to be.

Yeah, the reveals with Sybil's circumstance are fine, EXCEPT for how stupid the actual truth is, what a lame way to take the wind out of the best ending/Denial ending. It's actually incredibly stupid that the dev would choose to expose the actual logic behind the Visitor like that, in such a stupid way.

I found the way to recruit Spider! Yeah, you need to kill 5 big danger shadows that are unique to each floor. After that, visit B1 staircase at max danger without any party members. There is a hidden door (see pic). At the end of some dark maze-like corridors you`ll finally find him as a boss. Try to be miserable in pre-fight dialogue and survive. Good luck!

Feeling good, I reseted cursed mode a bunch of times. I think the best strat is to just focus on exploring everything on the first days and leave most enemies intact until you have a full party. Xaria & mont can suck my ass.
I'm using ernest, audrey and lyle. Sam+ernest using AOE make everything a lot easier. I was able to beat taxidermy in my first attempt, I'm going to try the tank now. I mostly use skills and reover fp with food.
Grinding the soldiers in the landlords apartment for grenades is one of the BEST things you can do.

I'm pretty disappointed with the new story additions mainly with Sybil that I feel it retroactively hurts the overall story and mystery thereof that was presented on release. It's such a contrived idea that only works with suspension of disbelief. Really gives credence to the idea that less is more.

The best strat is to explore everywhere fight absolutely nothing. Save the key from wounded man's apartment for the the safe in joel room which has a rifle. Spam vidya until you get a +1 person then kill wounded guy -> go to stairwell pickup pool cue, 2x impale for leigh, pass the next day, pickup 4toothpaste from the shop and 3from the room next door and then power farm Joel up.

Cockroaches should be somewhat rushable if you combine it with leaving food out but I'd really only estimate 3-4 days for that if you go out of your way for the roach spots & know exactly where to get them.
Audrey seems pretty easy but she needs access to Mutt's place, which locks Papineau if you don't have the Cleanerox from the store. Joel + Papi need you to buy their matching resource to actually recruit them, that's not hard. Leigh's easy and a good party member especially if you grab her phone ASAP for her questline.
Philippe is a bit tricky but you can technically avoid every single enemy in the Sewers + most of the enemies in the Mushroom dungeon, but you'd still have to beat the final boss of the dungeon to get him. He needs only three days if you feed him 2/3 times too.
Aster doesn't seem worth it but I don't know his recruitment recommendations, but his tradeoffs are too large to be worth it. Apparently the dev is planning to make recruiting him easier.

Oh, and Ernest is rushable as well - he's worth it but Rat Hell's pretty brutal on cursed even with a decently levelled party. The DAY you hit ground floor, make sure to start levelling everyone/gearing up for it because you need to save Ernest the moment you visit his base the day after hitting ground floor. Never fight the rat champion guy in part 3, Behemoth to the left is infinitely easier. I honestly don't know if its possible to beat rat champion with anyone besides early/stalled Roaches, though I guess you could get lucky with Cattleprod/Stun baton? The hardest rat hell fights are the first ones anyway because the groupfights really strain your earlygame resources, but the lantern/acid rat does way too much damage for that phase of the game anyway.

I just had a run where I recruited him without beating the boss. Got him into party, rescued 2 people then walked back to entrance which triggered a fight with him and the ones I rescued. After beating them I got his remains. It's probably possible to fight him alone if you try to leave right away after recruiting him but beating him early & nearly solo might be nigh impossible.

Nah, there's thankfully not that much ARG bullshit, its a very selfcontained game. There are 'timers' in the sense that there's some content that gets locked if you dawdle too much, and the game does have a time system, but it's decently generous/you can bumrush the game in under 3 days out of the 15 you're given if you know what you're doing. There's a lotta busted shit in current patch in general, like using the HP doubler accessory on Roaches to make him into a nuke, or giving Dan the antiblind gear so he can spam the shit out of his triple attack. In prior patches everyone was gushing over Hellen's absurd DPS. Lyle had to specifically get nerfed because Soul Capture would literally instakill bosses.
Honestly, at this point it feels more like it's Papineau and Joel who are the main weak cases. Even Leigh's solid DPS because her mechanics let her exploit high base attack weapons.
So in general the party members can be pretty busted.

xaria can't really afford the STM to use mosh pit much. yeah it autowins fights but it isn't great if you're just exploring an area and fighting trash. When I was using monty he ended up increasing the damage the party took every encounter just because he was an empty slot a lot spending turns brewing. During fights where the brew was required he once again spent half the time passing turns after doing one of his good attacks. They're solid but I ended up shelving them for ernst & lyle.

I don't think it's possible to have party members for exploration & boss battles because the game heavily discourages swapping party members. I just finished a run and barely got my main party to level 20. Maybe I could get multiple ones to 20 if I explored the meat dimension but I didn't bother to.

Nearly bricked my Cursed file because it turns out the location of the Fredrick's painting of the visitor is randomized. You can do trial and error or defeat face taker and talk to real Fred and he tells you the new location of the painting.
I still think the tutorial enemy is the hardest enemy so far on cursed. I think since most of the doors are open on day 1 it's more of a early game boss than a tutorial fight. IF you use the key on vincent's apartment you can get some weapons and armor that makes the neighbor fight much easier.
The basement gets MUCH harder but Lyle and Audrey are very strong, and the buffs to Leigh's grinning beast form makes her one of the best boss slayers. You rely much less on weapons and more on abilities.

Lyle's insanely good if he's even remotely on level curve. His first skill does 180damage alone and more on crushing-weak enemies. His Soul Capture is a permanent unremovable debuff on bosses and a massive self heal the first time you use it, his Photo fluid is one of the few plentiful sources of acid damage in the game, and he's one of the only characters who has a readily-available Paralyze skill.

Joel's a fucking beast (against anything that's not resistant to pierce, anyway) if you pump his HP since he has two skills that scale off max HP
With a few lucky candies from the ground floor machine and the patchwork set it's easily possible to clear 600 HP with him. He absolutely shreds Exalted Four and its helper minions, keeps them permastunned and even kills them a few turns into the fight as long as you keep him healed

I mostly used Lyle to spam Lyle kicks once he learned that. Pretty damn good damage for only 10 stamina cost. Kind of fell off late game and he was relegated mostly to support, but what can you do when absolute units like Sam is spamming octocut with the hellsword, Phillippe is spamming statuses and 500+ damage to all enemies with puffball burst, and Roaches is 2x spamming thunderroach after roaching up the boss.

Copy dad is extremely broken mechanically, if you throw the last of an item Sam Jr. will conjure one from the void so that he can throw it. Absolutely. It's earnestly about being deluded enough that you get the Visitor to influence reality. The reason Mutations are a crap shoot is because most people aren't focusing on something strong enough when they see and are seen. It's why the Anime Ending happens because Sam goes fully into Anime Bullshit while in direct conversation with the Visitor so it's not just a glancing look.
