Skyrim has top-notch atmosphere, it's just that the gameplay is disappointing which is obviously important. It's a really nice world to just chill with and get lost in. Modding the game is in itself also oddly enjoyable.

pace of the game is kind of slow since it's just oblivion expanded by like 4 times which necessitates the use of a horse. this wouldn't be a problem if you could cast a spell that made you faster. somebody actually went through the trouble of putting area appropriate encounters around every single road in the game along with a random event list that dwarfs games like rdr2.

Its smaller than oblivion when you factor out the mountains that you cant really do anything with. And then the towns have like 4 houses. I added a wayshrines mod to my game, but its survival and you cant run everywhere because it burns stamina

Words cannot begin to describe how badly designed and overrated Skyrim is as a video game. In some parts, it's better than Oblivion in terms of atmosphere and tone. But the main point of this game is that it's essentially a modding sandbox for Nexus in that you need so many fucking mods just to make the game FEEL less empty and more bearable. That's not a good example of game design if you either need mods to enhance your experience OR you still feel unfulfilled playing the base game and DLC's and feel like you could use more.

Skyrim's ingenuity is that it did help encapsulate the fantasy zeitgeist in one fell swoop and catered to all kinds of audiences. It's accessibility and approach in design was also what made it stand out compared to its predecessors.

Overall, I would definitely say that while it hasn't replaced sex (in fact, what's crazy is that this is THE game for all the sex mods on Nexus), it can't help make it feel like it's better than that.

Morrowind is still the best RPG in TES in spite of its limitations and I still prefer it to Oblivion or Skyrim by a longshot. If you're literate and are capable of critical thinking, you're more than likely to succeed when playing it.

Skyrim is the peak of Bethesda's approach to making games. I heard it described as "roleplaying that you're playing an RPG" because there's enough stuff in it for you to immersive and enjoy yourself but nothing that's remotely deep enough for you to actually roleplay within the systems of the game, so you just end up imagining contexts that aren't really there.
This turns Skyrim into a more personal game and it means it's flaws become it's best qualities
