The fact that people actual discuss the games story in threads and in general should tell (you) a lot about how much better it is than toddslop by only being a game with superficial RPG elements. That story and 2moreweeks cosmetic seizure overlay as you skip months of time doesn't fully work with the gameplay of doing every side quest and fixer mission while buying all the cars and apartments and playing the dating sim mods, but it is an ok story. No one gives a shit about SHAUN or turning on a water purifier by saying yes 3 different ways on the masseffect wheel. Or about the secret secrets of the sirborn.

the open world content of cyberpunk 2077 is the most fun part of the game. i liked doing the gigs and police missions. the story missions are boring

Now NPCs, all essential, just get back up (if they take damage from gunfire at all) and the quest either continues or you have to die or wait out agro or surrender to a guard then walk your ass back there to progress. Safe zones where your semi fixed character won't no russian people isn't perfect but it's better than stupid "reactivity" for still no alternate quest avenue.
