>There's retards out here who think the most important aspect of an RPG is difficult combat.
Absolute retard take. If difficulty is all that's important to you, you might as well read a VN and only allow yourself to press "next" each time you beat a kaizo maro level.
The quality of an RPG comes from it's story and how immersed in it you are. How it makes you feel. Take final fantasy 7 for instance. Easily the most popular final fantasy, also probably the easiest, with only emerald and ruby weapons being remotely challenging, and even they are not very difficult. Final Fantasy X, another extremely popular RPG, another piss easy game, has the arguably most difficult turn based FF boss in the form of Penance. But also has a summon that can one shot everything including penance, if you have enough money on you.
Fallout New Vegas, considered one of the best RPGs of all time, not even remotely difficult. Disco Elysium, another all time great, not difficult at all game. VtM:Bloodlines, the only hard fight is fucking ming xiao. For every great RPG that is difficult, there's an example of one that isn't. And for lots of the "difficult" ones, It's not even that the game is difficult, it's just fucking knowledge checks and learning curve on how to play the game. Fallout 1 is a great game, Is it difficult? Arguably the most difficultt hing is running into enemies that are too hard, too early. Does that make it a difficult game? Or is that just something you have to learn? And the older you go in CRPG (and JRPG) the more difficulty just comes from dumb obscure, barely explained bullshit, counter and un-intuitive UIs, and systems. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to level your HP by having your characters take hits, when the logical thought in combat is to try and avoid taking hits?? Fucking hell.
