If you need mods to fix or make a game better, it wasnt good in the first place and they detract from the original intended experience.

those games always have cult followings for some reason. some examples being;

RIght, which is the reason why people mod games

>and they detract from the original intended

The original intent from the developer is: they didn't give a shit and just shat out a game, which is why people mod games

compatibility issues are unrelated to what the OP is referring to. it's like 'fixing' pathfinder:wotr by installing some autobuff mod

I’ve not messed with mods in over a decade as I primarily play on console now but I remember a few nice ones for Xcom that really improved the experience for me. I tend to finish and move on never to revisit games these days so I’m not someone who would really take advantage of mods.

They shouldn’t be needed to get a game in a playable state but for those with limited funds they can extend a games lifespan exponentially. There’s no real downsides to the later but the former is a minor one where devs get lazy/rush things out the door expecting the community to fix it.

Randomizers are based and every combat game should have one.

I live in Brazil, sir. You mentioning food angers me, as I cannot afford such a luxury.

Vanilla Factorio is great and totally playable without mods. Can't say that for say, Cities Skylines.

>play game with its original intended experience
OR
>play a good functional game
Hard choice to make right there.
