Everybody complained about them, dude. I was there when they released the original 5* Lancer Brynhild, and people were worried about the whole thing with her still seeing Siegfried in a somewhat romantic way. Then her interlude came out, and it somewhat (but temporarily) fixed this issue with her 1st interlude’s extra bio:

So people brushed it off because it was mostly platonic, and she was ultimately for the Master.
However, then came the (horror) summer event where they straight up paired her with Siegfried, and it was a shitshow with people shitflinging everywhere and calling each other cucks, sidehoes, or even third wheels to their relationship. Her popularity took a nosedive after that, and barely anyone cares about her nowadays.

She’s always been for Xiang Yu from the get-go, so nobody expected much of a romantic aspect from her.
After this shitshow, FGO barely ever featured shipping between servants, and even if they did, it was mostly platonic and usually just a reference or callback to the games those servants originally came from.
