I have no idea why people creamed themselves over the show "code monkeys". It was so sub par and the VA was terrible.

It was the perfect channel for teenage boys. I'm sure there's a large element of nostalgia at play in terms of the quality of most programs, but it was a perfect lightning in a bottle for its time that could never be recaptured or replicated. It covered games in a way that magazines and websites of the time just couldn't. Well before streaming and Youtube gaming channels. It also had a large cast of hot women working there, and most hosts were generally funny and likable. It was edgy and gave us shows about things we would care about which you wouldn't see elsewhere. Being between the ages of 12 and 18 during its peak was something you just had to be there for.

it's case of only town syndrome. people liked it not because it was good but because there wasn't anything else for video games and it was only available in US. out of US have no idea what it is.

Not exactly wrong. They definitely tried to fill gamer gaps in their programming. For fuck's sake they genuinely had a show about living in an MMORPG or some equally dumb shit. Fuck that, put more SOCOM team games on. ARENA!!!!!!

I was the right age for it, about 13-14 when i got cable tv and found G4.
video games weren't as normal as they are now, so for me I didnt have anything or anyone to share my hobbies with other than Magazines and G4. Though after a few years, likely a result of the 2007-2008 crash, cable tv pretty much died and everything became reruns instead of new original programming. History channel slowly became reality bullshit and aliens. G4 was cops until Attack of the Show at night.

Helps to remember that Bankers ruin everything

I knew of its existence and only last year saw an episode for the first time.
I was positively surprised. About half the jokes they made would be considered toxic and makes trannies cry and they actually understood games and what is important in a good game.
Really makes you wonder how everything turned to shit so fucking fast.
Anonymous No.724773329 [Report]
I tuned into Cinematech Nocturnal Emissions for the censored porn but they would always drop like one hidden gem deepcut preview per episode. It's why I pre-ordered Rule of Rose and Katamari Damacy before they came out.

>they actually understood games and what is important in a good game
sometimes they were based but most of the time they were wrong. from the footage you could tell they were really bad at games. a lot of games they reviewed they straight up lie about and prove they didnt beat the game

There were some samurai, they periodically killed themselves, a rat learned judo, and they invented a religion sanctified by small trees and fat guys wrestling. Then we nuked them. She reminds me of a girl I studied with at univ, she was built like a fucking brickhouse with even broader shoulders than Webb and her face was rectangular. During a student party she got one of the guys pretty drunk to have his way with him. We made fun of him so hard afterwards that he fucking dropped out.

I was too old for it by the time it came out to be impressed by video game TV content. Lapped that shit up when I was a kid, though. Nick Arcade, Video Power, GamePro TV, anything I could get my hands on. I even rented this silly thing a couple times.

31 years old. used to watch that shit at 13 or 14. It was perfect for a 13 or 14 year old gamer with a hard dick. Some shows were actually pretty fun. Early couch era xplay had a good vibe. ATOS I used to think was gay but as I got into the 15-16 range it started to scratch some of the other media itches. Also Sarah and Kristen Holt. FUCK.

That said, neither of those were even the best shows on the network. Best shit in general was Cinematech. It was literally just 30 minutes of gameplay and trailers with game and company names while having themed commercial bumps, music, intros and outros. The other was cheat, because cheats. also Kristen.

It was good for the mid 00s.
Great way to keep up with games and tech news in the nascent normie-net days when only AVGN was talking about video games on YouTube like.
This was the time where a barely legible 240p trailer for a video game took an hour to download and watch on your family desktop. Being able to see gameplay, announcements, cutscenes, ads, reviews, etc that were specifically for your hobby was novel and useful if you didn't have a lot of gamer friends to tell you about shit at school or magazine subscriptions.

Most people probably remember X-Play, Web Soup, and Attack of the Show which were all pretty surface level talking head programs about tech and burgeoning internet culture. Little ahead of its time I think, because nowadays tons of people like just watching someone play and talk about a video game.
Outside of that it had some actual useful shit like Cheat! which was fun, you can go watch the WoW episode on YouTube. It's a classic. There was also a show called, I think, ICONS? It was a documentary series about shit like Sakaguchi's early days, and Gunpei Yokoi making the Gameboy and stuff.
There was an anime block too, which was pretty important around this time when pretty much anime was only available on Toonami, Sci-Fi Channel, and home video.
My favorite was some programming called Cinematch, and Nocturnal Emissions. This was, IIRC, just clips from video games and weird movies. Perfect late night stuff to zonk out to.

Oh, make no mistake, it was pretty shit. But it was SINCERE in how shit it was. On no other network could someone like Sessler have ever gotten even a modicum of recognition and popularity.
