The PS2 and PS3 were complicated and full of bottlenecks. Bandwidth bottlenecks, Gpu bottlenecks, complicated architecture... Meanwhile the PS1, PS4 and PS5 have no bottlenecks. The most perfect gaming machines/game consoles that ever existed.

This is competing against a similarly priced laptop that also does actual laptop things so will be used for studying, general internet usage, steaming, youtube, social media etc. and has access to a metric fuckton of f2p and cheap titles across steam and other smaller platforms. This is why those markets are so huge in the poorer countries because good luck convincing someone living in a tiny economy to invest in a $549 blu ray player that he then has to pay an additional $70 for every game, 70$ for controllers, fuck knows how much for online access etc.

Versus a cheap laptop of the same price that will play basically every big popular game because most of the big titles nowadays are either f2p or very easy to pirate, and are relatively easy to run and dont need a powerful machine to play them on. Things like minecraft, fortnite, valorant etc.

They need to stop focusing in fidelity, e we are there. Ray tracing isn’t worth it either, aim at aesthetics like art style and send hyper realism packing. No game should run sub 60fps, but like this generation next will likely have a very long crossgen period.

Hell PS4 is still getting games so there’s no reason to jump into a PS6 for a few years, I’ll wait for a slim. I didn’t like GTA V so no interest in the next one which is likely the only game they’ll have a significant boost.
