I would play gacha if they had weeklies instead and I could either chip away at them or binge them all at once.
Anonymous No.724783674 [Report]
I could never keep up more than two of these and ultimately have pulled back to just FGO and Pokemon TCG Pocket, both of which are very forgiving with their "dailies".

FGO doesn't have dailies besides small upgrade mat rewards unless you're at Ordeal Call which is 100+ hours of main story content and even then the Ordeal Call dailies have a window of three days and and are just doing three runs of a specific kind of node. Pokemon TCG Pocket dailies are literally open a pack and do a pick, which is like 30 seconds.

I don't see myself dropping either of these games. I still love FGO and am enjoying PTCGP.

I stopped playing Genshin very suddendly, I was playing it religiously for 2 years and then when I missed 1 event because I was focused on another game I just completely stopped playing it right then.
Another thing that made me stop playing the game is the artifact inventory limit and the fact there was no way to filter bad artificats in a time efficient way

Story and characters are the easy answer usually, but some of them do have a novel gameplay concept.

I enjoy FGO for the same reason I enjoy Pokemon post-game stuff. It's low intensity, turn based gameplay where having an ever increasing number of units allows you to create synergies and interactions that are novel with the systems in place. I like having a game like that to play while watching stuff or on my lunch break when working. I don't always want to play high action games.

You could argue similar concepts are delivered through non-gacha genres and you're correct, I love Disgaea for the same reason, but I would argue those are typically very finite games while gachas have the benefit of perpetual new content.

Gacha (as a genre) specifically refers to games designed around some sort of random-chance format of obtaining characters/vehicles/weapons or content where this is aspect is central to the games overall concept and there is an ability to pay for more rolls of the random-chance. They're typically free to play and for mobile phones, but these aren't strict rules.

The most common form of this is some sort of RPG-like gameplay mechanics where units are obtained via rolling for them with currency obtained from either playing or paying.

Note that a game simply having random chance elements to get characters does not make it gacha - Xenoblade 2 is not a gacha game, even if it has a gacha-like system in place for unlocking characters because those systems are not central to the experience and you aren't able to pay for them.

>>724784348
"Good story" is too nebulous a term for me to answer that, but I legitimately enjoy FGOs story and how it connects to established Type Moon lore and the concepts its built up, along with some of the individual chapters being emotional and entertaining to follow. I really hope we get a Lostbelt 6 anime some day and Lostbelt 7 was one of the coolest times a game has heavily built up a super boss and had the gameplay of fighting that superboss be just as absurd and I loved that.

You're spending time regardless of what you play though. No, the issue with Gatcha is that it connects money with gameplay so if the player doesn't play, they are losing money. So long as you can avoid this mental connection, it's just like any other game.

I play a lot of them, but honestly they really don't take that much time and I still am reading 2-3 books a week and also having hours every day set aside to play new games.

For the full list since I'm sure people will call bullshit or otherwise.

Arknights
Honkai 3rd
Genshin
Blue Archive
Honkai Star Rail
ZZZ
Girls Frontline 2
Stella Sora

I added Stella Sora to the list but honestly, might drop this one. Girls Frontline 2 and ZZZ are also in the possible drop category. Arknights adding a decent sweep function saved me a lot of time in the morning.

never did. Originally I stopped playing them to play the more advanced totally not loot gacha WoW since I decided to mythic raid for some reason. Mostly since I was playing three gachas, but the only problem is I quit two gachas I realized I actually enjoyed after I finally quit the third gacha that ceased to do anything impressive and refused to be worth the time investment considering how stingy it was. (From GFL1 and Arknights to playing Genshin on release but realizing I'd rather have more time for myself for real games on top of WoW, so I quit GFL1 and Arknights, and finally realized Genshin was dogshit much later.)

At some point I started playing NIKKE and then GFL2. I'm still on the edge of GFL2, I mean I like the whole GFL world but for the longest time it feels like the devs don't actually want you to play 2. Nikke is nice though. Maybe I'll get into Arknights Endfield whenever that supposedly comes out. I'm just sad I quit Arknights. I actually liked that game where more than I thought, but quitting a gacha is a death sentence since you can't just come back and expect to be powerful enough to do the content. Especially when by that point there's tons of units you'll need that powercreeped everyone else by a metric fuck ton, and the game gets balanced around that.

>>724785047
You get closer to recognizing it, except that you fail to see that there must be something fun about the game to get players playing in the first place. The idea of 'This event sucks but I have to complete it otherwise it'll cost me $14.99' is exactly the mentality I'm talking about. I play ZZZ, but if I don't feel like doing dailies, I don't. Gacha games are anti-vidya. Mobile and browser games basically proved to the entire gaming industry the ridiculous prices people are willing to pay for any microtransaction locked content. Thus retarded paywalls have been made for the littlest things in every aspect of a game no matter if it's f2p or p2p. Gacha games exacerbated this issue and they're inherently worse, because their design philosophies are awful to participate in for both free and paying users. You're not playing a game that respects your time, and they're all extremely effortless so even with all the absurd time and money spent, you, the end user, get nothing extra out of it.

Star rail is engaging in its own genre. If you don't like turn-based rpgs that's an entire separate argument, but as far as turn-based rpgs go star rail is decent with great visuals and great soundtrack.

Auto is optional, and only replaces manual for menial boring repetitive tasks. I don't feel like doing it manually? Great, I put auto, finish my dailies or whatever I'm doing on the background and I'm done. Feel like playing a bit? I just do it manually, do some SU runs, try to clear some endgame content, do a bit of relic sorting. Might sound boring but for people like me who look at an excel spreadsheet and go "hell yeah" unironically it's fun.

I fundamentally will never understand gacha. When I play a game, if it isn't fun, I stop playing. I knew someone who was addicted to a game and admitted to not actually enjoying it, and I still just don't get it. There's something deeply dehumanising about that kind of behaviour, same as gambling addicts, they are doing something objectively bad but they've been reduced to pathetic animals acting on instinct, pressing on a screen with vacant eyes. At least junkies and alcoholics at some point are getting something from it.

The entire argument is that gacha games are inherently toxic to the entire industry as a whole as any developer can just look at gacha games and take after them just as they did with shit like Farmville and Candy Crush. In the cases of the most egregious offenders (which happen to be the most popular gachas with significant revenue streams) the user will be met with multiple methods of RNG acquisition. Characters, weapons and gear. On top of that those items may have systems where they get more powerful with more duplicates. The free user will never be able to acquire all of those without 1 in a trillion luck. Simultaneously the paying user can and will end up paying more than those around them to achieve said goal. The industry shifted a long time ago from allowing players to experience and gather all forms of anything they chose, to now locking everything behind expansions, DLC, battlepasses, and now this casino style of acquisition. The argument should be made that players have lost all sense of value in this world where every game, gacha or not, is taking way more from the player than should be reasonably asked for. None of this shit is worth the price, and gacha games take it a step further and tell the player that whether they pay or not they'll be met with a system that fucks them.

You had zero brain cells to begin with if you didnt notice the operant conditioning. MMOs have been doing this sociology bullshit for decades but fundamentally there is an actually game attached to it. Gacha is just an MMO minus any of the gameplay.

If a game has any kind of cash shop that is not just cosmetics I avoid it like the plague.
If a game has any kind of "draw" mechanic that requires a currency that can be bought with money I avoid it like the plague.

How do you save if you don't do dailies?
Anonymous No.724800579 [Report]

The only other thing keeping me in on the Limbus game, besides seeing where the story goes, is the fact that my dailies take a minute tops. I don't care if skipping is inefficient, that's turning ~20 minutes of dailies into a minute of button presses and moving on with my day.

Events and whatever end game modes that reset. Dailies add up over time, but in these games the bulk of your funds always comes from events and weeklies if you break them down.

Well it probably helped that you don't want most of the characters. Seriously, Valentines ADDIS? Christmas VICTOR? Two of the biggest revenue events in a gacha and they give you two black boys and one of them is an old obese fag. The idiots at Cygays earned that EoS, fucking pyosg of the year of all years.

It's more more better for me if I have an afternoon of time when I was young to play through a single player game like dragon quest 11

Exercise and eating healthy will not make you happier than playing some gacha slop. You are a psycho to even suggest that.

It feels good to be in shape but you will be bitching about counting your calories and other various set ups depending on how serious you take it. It is NOT enjoyable to work out. Its rigorous discipline and youll burn out if you approach it like it is enjoyable.
