GTA IV mocked capitalism and was developed before the 2008 recession, with many scathing remarks about how average citizens begrudgingly live through a monotonous predatory system that can spit them out any time, but that then changed with GTA V, its entire politics is center-right. The latter game kinda mocks capitalism in a way, but it then goes to portray anything remotely leftist into such a ridiculously venomous caricature you’d think they had a /pol/tard make it.
For example, there’s the San Andreas governor elections between one conservative and one socialist. When the ads for the conservative candidate come up, he says the same tired old shtick that Reagan-era republicans said:
> “heh, we’ll drill for more oil and make billionaires pay less tax! Ain’t I original?”
Then, we get the socialist candidate, and she basically goes:
>“GRRR, I HATE MEN! EVERYONE WILL PAY 300% TAX, SOCIAL MEDIA WILL BE BANNED, EVERYONE WILL BE FORCED TO BUY HYBRID CARS, AND FORCED VASECTOMIES AFTER YOUR FIRST-BORN CHILD! I LOVE THE ENVIRONMENT!!!! ALSO, I FUCKING HATE MEN!!!”
Rockstar nowadays is entirely different from the one we saw in the 00’s, they’re also completely silent on social media nowadays when they’re not shilling new updates to GTA Online. They no longer do newsletters or host collab livestreams with content creators either, all they care about is taking people’s money and then kick them to the curb.
