Noita
Just picked this up, should I go in blind or is there some shit I need to know going into it.

play blind. learning all the systems is half of the fun. you can start looking at the wiki once you get a few complete runs under your belt. until then, just enjoy learning.

I'll give a few general tips, always keep something like water or blood in your flask so you can put fires in yourself out, you can wind up on fire, a lot. A fun early way to make good wands is to make use of the chainsaw spell and the spark bolt trigger spell, using these with a wand that has shuffle turned off can make for a pretty effective weapon, I wont spill too much but those general tips can help you get around to explore things for yourself a little easier. The most fun you can do is just play with the world, see what stuff does and how it all interacts, yiu can retry infinite times so even id you die its not a big deal, just try stuff and have fun

>a few complete runs
Fuck that. OP, do NOT beat the game because unlike literally every roguelite ever, the regular endings do NOT give you unlocks. Once you're powerful enough to reach the final boss, turn around and go back and explore the side paths to unlock spells and shit. Getting "wins" in Noita is the single biggest meme ever.

go blind for as long as you can
unless you hate it
Anonymous No.724811698 [Report]
When you get so assblasted that you truly never want to play the game ever again, then you have permission to look up chainsaw wrapping on youtube.
Anonymous No.724812673 [Report]
I'd say don't play it with a wiki open but I doubt you're going to follow this advice since you can't even start the damn game without asking for help.

you get the win for the satisfaction of it, so you can know you did it. not everyone who even gets to and beats the boss will be able to turn back. your advice is terrible, you are literally just encouraging someone to kill themselves before they even get the satisfaction of seeing the credits once.

Same. I had a good run recently but at one point I had a choice between getting electric immunity or explosion immunity and like a FOOL I went for explosion immunity.

Better to go in blind because 1. it's an experience you'll only have if you do it before looking stuff up and 2. once you do look up how autistic the game is for something with permadeath, you'll likely lose interest anyway
Anonymous No.724816516 [Report]
Go in as blind as you can until you get a win. Then try to explore after you're comfortable with the game mechanics and can consistently get to a point where you can move through the world freely. Looking up secrets is only going to give you information overload and I'd only do it if you get stuck or run out of leads to investigate.

Anonymous No.724817792 [Report]
At least look up how certain spells and modifiers influence and cause wrapping, then spend runs fucking around internalizing spots where chests/hearts spawn while also making do with and creating big fuck dick bitch wands to kill. Not in any particular order, just keep it in mind while you learn the enemies and environments.

OP, everyone ITT is trolling you. There are some convoluted, arbitrary, inconsistent and hidden wand mechanics that the game never bothers to explain to you. Watch at least a couple of introductory videos on wand crafting to have an idea how to build them.

>is there some shit I need to know going into it.
not major, just keep a water bottle on you or empty a random potion and fill it with water

also don't shoot the omega saw blades that shit is cancer

and once you beat the main boss on the main route 5+ times you might as well start looking shit up cause you will never find it out on your own

>>724819056
none of that is required to beat a regular run. saying "complete a regular run before diving into the wiki and breakdowns of mechanics" is not a troll. much of the fun of the early game is learning and figuring things out. jumping into wand building guides too early can seriously hinder enjoyment and progress as people start to feel like runs are lost if they don't get a certain spell early on and they get less creative with their builds as they keep trying to follow the wand building guides.

It's a game with a very high treshold, desu. The foremost one thing that will help you advance and survive is knowing which perks to pick, to make you more survivable and upgrades your playstyle.
I actually second the people saying "hit up the wiki whenever you want, bruh": Getting a perk should be a reward for completing a "level" and thus enhance you, rather than have you pick Teleportitis because "hey, reduced damage sounds good?" If you want to hardcore it out, feel free to but everything will take x4 longer time to achieve.

you are speaking as a player with a bunch of playtime, wins under your belt, and a wealth of knowledge that a new player does not have. yes, beating a single run is something that you should do as a new player, saying otherwise is retarded. ignoring the win is something that (you) should do because you have a load of knowledge and experience and you wouldn't even be in that room altogether if you weren't ready to progress.

you can only play a game blind once
that's how i've played, and i've dumped hundreds of hours into the game and have immensely enjoyed it
it takes a lot of experimenting to work out the mechanics of the game and a strategy, but when you figure shit out, it's extremely rewarding
i haven't played in a year, but i was mapping the game out as i played (pic related, BUT DON'T SPOIL YOURSELF!!)
be warned, you need to be ok with losing a run when you're like 8 hours in. however, as long as you learn something, that's a success not a failure.

truth be told, this is one of my favorite games of all time, but i don't know if i'd recommend it to anyone i know because it's brutally hard and is a time sink

i put this game down because i needed something less time intensive, and ended up playing baba is you. turns out the guy that made baba also worked on noita. arvi is prolly my favorite indie dev.

I got it probably a week after that update. I think I was just missing the leggy mimic or something really random. I got a god run and did all the new quests and stuff.
I ended up having to do 2 god runs because the meatball spider boss despawned or ran away and I spent hours looking for it on the first run.

The fun part of Noita is the straight route through the layers of the main dungeon ending at Kolmisilma. The side stuff all sucks and it's a shame we have to endure it if we want unlocks.
