My controller broke down so I tried to play it on keyboard as the original port because it feels very wrong on a mouse, and those retard broke it, even with the config that should restore keyboard movement. The original PC port used QTE on Ctrl+Sift and LShift+RShift, those x+c are just retarded.

The one, sole thing I dislike about RE1 on PC is that they made Jill an actual, technical easy mode. On PS1 her "easy mode" comes from having the grenade launcher, having Barry as backup during 2 fights, having more inventory, etc. It's circumstantial

But on the PC version she's actually mechanically easier. She doesn't need ink ribbons to save, enemies deal less damage to her and ammo found is higher quantity, around 50% more per pick up compared to PS1 Jill

RE1 isn't really hard at all but you're basically forced to play Chris or else you get OMEGA easy with Jill

I get why but RE2-4 would have been better Switch 2 ports.

It actually goes further than that. PC Jill also have more healing items around the mansion and reduced enemies, most notably a lot less Hunters and Dogs. If someone grew up playing the PS1 versions they will definitely feel like something is definitely not right if they play the PC version.

On the flip side PC Chris is also harder than PS1 Chris. He takes more damage than Jill, there are slightly more enemies, mostly extra Hunters and less ammo and herbs throughout the game

What do you want to see in the remake of the remake?

Hopefully they have more scenes were Chris and Jill are together before Wesker kidnaps one.

quickturn is a good addition for the classic games and overcomes a lot of issues with tank controls (especially with how RE and RE2 specifically design hallways and rooms).

Quick turn doesn't bother me. It was in the early builds of RE1 and removed until 3 for some reason. I always use combat reloading exclusively too. If you opened the menu to reload in perfect safety, you did not beat the game.

More a novel than a manga, and it was really poorly translated at that. There's supposed to be an OC girl that only appears in the story, but the translators thought it was Jill despite the art demonstrating it wasn't. The characters talk in really weird ways and Wesker basically may as well be spoiling the plot of the game while making it super obvious he was involved with it. Besides an early introduction of Brian Irons (without the S) who was just a generic angry police chief that might've been on Umbrella's payroll, it actually just makes RE dumber since Chris magically forgot he encountered whole ass zombies.

The point of the average T-Virus Zombie is that it's not really about "hunger", but about decay. The virus overloads incompatible people's cells and rapidly degrades their mental faculties because of excess energy burn, and it drives them into believing they're hungry and must feed, going into such agony and degradation that their minds blank out besides the primal urges. The reality is they'll eventually break down once their body's cells can't handle it anymore and die. The virus then works from there with mutations and other effects that may make it so they can't even die easily until full cell collapse ensues, hence the RE3 opening where they kept getting up; if you're really unlucky, not even that is guaranteed. It's an action game that REALLY doesn't sit well with the campaign designs. You're either stuck with a horror-wannabe throwback to older titles that is poorly paced between the stretches of zombies and BOWs, a third person setpiece shooter that is just too clunky to match up with what it wants to do, or a puzzle-and-evasion series of gimmicks and vehicle sections with characters that have stronger melee attacks than normal in exchange for not feeling very good for their bosses. No inventory limit so you carry a shooter's arsenal of various weapons, a weird skill system to obnoxiously grind just to make weapons feel good, and the campaigns can occasionally become a stingy bitch about ammo which, being a linear game with a lot of shootyshootybangbang, is a softlock and a checkpoint reload when it happens.

Between RE fans just not liking what was put on their plates for that whole mess, and a severe lack of concentrated direction of something trying to appeal to everybody but not really drawing in anybody, there's a reason why it nearly killed the franchise. But, for what it's worth, all the dodges, quick shots and melees, condensed systems for action and all, it becomes a fucking amazing ass Mercenaries experience that really makes some folks wish it got the Raid Mode treatment of the Revelations titles.

CV just had wayyy too big of a map to start, i'm kinda shit at navigation in games. and i just end up getting so lost which was a problem i never had with 1/2, RE3 i hated mechanically, there was a dodge button but the direction was RANDOM. where in a game where the dodge was collision based this caused problems, take the first fight with nemesis. if you dodge then shoot, your back/forward dodge leaves you at a frame disadvantage after the shot, where nemisis can attack again and you just have to take the hit, if you are near a wall the side where the wall is prevents the dodge from working, giving you a 25-50% chance of your dodge actually being useful depending on your position on the screen. which is not good when the combat encounters are clearly built around it. it's bad design. hell even Dino crisis 2 would fix it by letting you choose the dodge direction. it was a shit mechanic and the game was built around it to some extent.

Everyone remembers the iconic early levels of res4, and almost forgets whole sections of the mid game, which are admitted still good and vary varied.

i tried playing resident evil 3 and got bored with it. it's not even the controls per se, i just dont get the appeal of the franchise compared to silent hill for example. it's not an action game and it's not horror either. zombies dont really scare me. are these classic games just nostalgia googles for kids and teens who played it when it came out? i mean, i dont judge that, but i cant get into them at all and i tried all the classic ones. just boring.

it has a tightly designed arcadey quality that becomes apparent when you revisit it after an initial playthrough. the level routing and inventory management that seems a bit superfluous, overly generous become serious mechanics for meeting ending rank clears. silent hill isn't as conducive to that style of play, outside of a couple nifty optional puzzles the lack of inventory management and purposely tedious real world floorplans limit its ceiling in advanced play.

I'm tired of people shitting on 8 because aside from the swamp, it's a pretty decent game. Obviously the castle was great. The dollhouse was fucking great and scary going in blind, just short. And honestly, the lab was great too. I hated fighting the soldats, but not in a janky way like the j'avo from RE6. There was real dread and planning involved. Also loved the soundtrack in that area, atmosphere, and the showdown again propeller man was intense.

All the boss fights/village filler criticism I get, but I'm glad I decided to play for myself.

Much like with Ada's entire plan in RE:2, it quite literally makes no sense how or why Krauser is there.
In the original, he is there because Wesker sent him in. He knows of Wesker and works for him because his injury made him unable to operate in normal combat, and the tales of Wesker's enhanced abilities were his only option.
He just knew of the cult though because... he just did? He took a vacation to Spain for no reason?
