I don't get the hate on /v/ for this game. Sure it's completely unbalanced in lategame, the big plot twist is kind of wonky, and even if it's not the connoisseur JRPG combat system I genuinely had an awesome time with it.
I think the rythym parryslop mechanic was a neat idea to avoid the usual skillspam boredom that plagues JRPGs and that the character waiting Is lightyears ahead of most storydriven games, AAA moviegames or other JRPGs. It really captured the '90s Final Fantasy experience for the modern day, in a way Square is stubbornly unwilling or incapable to do.

Alexis Garavayan gave the studio $10 Million after two years of development, and that's the vast majority of their funding. You can piss and moan and cry and point to associations, but the fact of the matter is that they had to pad the credits to be as long as the outro song and could only come up with 210 names by including everyone who worked at the publisher and all the contractors and repeating several names. The only way for large studios to atone for the failure of their plantation model is mass human sacrifice, which they have the budget and manpower for.

KCD and E33 are the only notable ones, the others are indie game FotM, Dark Age is awful and Oblivion is a game from 2006.
The new RE game is shaping up nicely, Donkey Kong was alright and we got a new Prime game coming up. Also every Fromsoft game has been great, the next one will probably be too, on the remaster front we got FF Tactics and lots of DQ games, things aren't nearly as grim as you make it out to be.
