Darkwood 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr1NaOJjBJk
So was giving the IP to Ice Pick Lodge one last fuck you to everyone who shit on them for making a kids soccer game when everyone wanted Darkwood 2? I genuinely don't see how anyone could see them as a good developer to hand off your beloved IP to after seeing how Pathologic 2 turned out.

I literally started Darkwood on Halloween.
I have a backlog of halloween games I keep putting off Halloween after halloween spanning a decade because for whatever reason I'm either busy or not in the mood.

So far it started off a bit boring, but after the first few nights it started to click. I get it, get resources by day and get spooked in your base at night.

However it feels like something destined to result in soft locking out the ass, because I can't figure out what to do to progress.

Yeah, you'll need to progress through the game at a reasonable pace before you run out of resources to defend yourself, but the first base is pretty forgiving and doesn't require a lot of maintenance, so there's not too much pressure.

>gone from 2D stylized art to generic 3D animation slop
One trailer, no release date, and IPL is already showing how cheap and rushed the game is going to be lmao.

You should be fine so long as you keep exploring new locations

???
Look I want the other two routes as well, the music wasn't as interesting, but what we got was great.

They made a kids soccer game?

They were working on it, was called "Soccer Kids".

>most of the hard work done for the other routes
Also what does 'chud' mean in this context?

Finished the 1st game a couple months ago. Things I hope they change: too many items/ not enough storage, no reason to set traps/ fix doorways/ too easy, immersion-breaking menu diving at all times making the game not scary, days should be at least twice as long. I also remember being locked into the final area with no warning (they give an "are you sure?" but don't do a good job of explaining) and then after the really short final swamp area you get locked into finishing the game with no warning. Good concept and potential to be a good game though :)

>I can't figure out what to do to progress.
You need to escape the forest and get back to the outside world.
In order to do that, you need to get your bunker key back.
You need to find the doctor who stole it and take it back from him.
The way that you find him is up to you, there are several branching paths to finding him and getting your shit back, but the most obvious for new players is the friendly Wolfman telling you to meet up with him in area 2.
If you look at the map it will be split into three regions, each has tougher monsters and night events than the previous one, but will pay higher rewards for surviving.

Isn't it possible to just fully explore each area and then move to the next?

Or can you really run out of weapons/bullets?

Did you play on the "infinite lives mode"? Because that tends to make it too easy.

I played it on whatever the standard mode is called. I tend not to choose hard mode when going in blind on a game.

That's fair, but it's most fun when you replay it with limited lives. Which isn't too bad once you know what you're doing.

Not really. If you survive a night, you get enough influence to buy one can of fuel and the merchant always restocks

I think that's nearly impossible, you'll at worse be forced to explore more aggressively.

I found a freshly dead backpacker in the starting area where he wasn't there before, with goods. I assume this game does throw occasional freebies if you stray too long, kind of like battery drops in The Desolate Hope.

Those 30% are more fun and have more content than most AAA games on the market

You're the fucking reason devs need to put yellow paint everywhere and have an objective with an arrow pointing towards where to go on the UI at all times if you don't know what to do to progress.
