You can, but it won't save that much weight overall, since the Xbone controller has double the amount of plastic it needs (it has an outer skin and then a thick plastic skellington, then the batteries are fucking heavy too)
If you've already got one and want to try it, more power to you - you don't need to snip the wires, since it's just a plug.
Otherwise, get a wired 360 controller and do it to that.
If you really want wireless, get a powerA switch pro controller (not a real Nintendo one, they're very weighty for other reasons and the linear vibration weights almost nothing, third parties just use old-style motors)
