>hate rumble, always turn it off in games
>have vague memories of how the PS1 controllers were super-light because they had no rumble motors
>consider disassembling my Xbox One controller just to remove the rumble motors (apparently you can just snip the cables without causing problems)
Thoughts?

if you are using steam there might be a setting somewhere to disable rumble by default regardless of in game settings, if you are on xbox that most likely exists on that too

I know, but better to just disconnect instead of cutting them in case he ever wants them back on or sell them for parts.

I'm still using my PS4 controller in 2025. Still works fine a decade later.

You can, but it won't save that much weight overall, since the Xbone controller has double the amount of plastic it needs (it has an outer skin and then a thick plastic skellington, then the batteries are fucking heavy too)
If you've already got one and want to try it, more power to you - you don't need to snip the wires, since it's just a plug.

Otherwise, get a wired 360 controller and do it to that.
If you really want wireless, get a powerA switch pro controller (not a real Nintendo one, they're very weighty for other reasons and the linear vibration weights almost nothing, third parties just use old-style motors)

this is an excellent complement to my steam deck

i have a dock on my living room, when im playing my steam deck docked i use a dualshock 4, since i can play many of my PC exclusive games using the extra input options from the dualshock 4

>>requires third party software to work on windows

you mean steam? steam fully supports the dualshock 4, just use steam input

its really good, i just wish it had some sort of protection around the plastic that makes contact with the thumbstick, i bought a bunch of used ones and they are all worn out on that part

Honestly I use to hate it but I find lately it's comfy but nowhere near as comfy as the 360 controller.

>>724861840
you can enable steam input for literally any game you play via steam, you can even add non-steam games

steam will translate the dualshock 4 inputs into xinputs, so you can use the ds4, the only problem is that it will show up xbox buttons on screen
Anonymous No.724866724 [Report]
>>724863910
my DS4 controller has outlasted any xbox controller ive ever owned and specially any switch controlelr ive ever owned

the only issue is that the touchpad is extra licky for some reason

maybe because im using the damn thing far more than Sony even considered, steam input is amazing with the dualshock 4
Anonymous No.724868278 [Report]
still remember taking some time getting used to it, but it really is great, the dualsense doesn't feel like a big enough upgrade worth getting over the DS4 if you are on pc

>buy an 8bitdo ultimate pad because I kept seeing it recommended here
>there's a million pads called the same way which makes finding info about them very conflicting
>buy one that support switch and has hall effect sticks since I figured it'd have all the features
>finally arrives
>no gyro support
>back buttons can only be remapped to face buttons
>need some fuckass third party software for it
>R2 trigger dies a few months later
>apparently its a very common factory issue because the plastic just cuts through the membrane
Never listening to you fags again.
