Most switch games emulate "fine" immediately, it's just a question whether "fine" is acceptable for MP4. Obviously a Primehack equivalent won't exist for a while so that does make the mouse controls of Switch 2 a little more appealing.

Traditional open world philosophy is antithetical to metroids main gameplay loop. Because open world games are designed around "go wherever you want." If you want the player to be able to go wherever they want, you can't lock areas off behind ability gates. I:E needing the varia suit to make it through the super-heated magmoor caverns.
I don't think nintendo would ever make a fundamental change to metroid like that. The desert is obviously just an area that is big.

I played the demo at the game show.

There's a larger underlying critique with Prime 4 in that shooters have evolved a lot over the years in regards to pace, movement, shooting.

Prime ended up how it did because of the Gamecube's controller. Quick stepping, lock on, slow movement; those are all aspects of the C-stick, like Resident Evil 4.

While playing the demo, I was thinking, "We've got two analog sticks and mouse controls now, this should feel faster", but it's still trying to be Prime 1 and 2.
