BF4 had the benefit of being a legitimately good game under the jank, basically the only thing that's aged poorly about it gameplay wise is the prevalence of open maps with strong vehicles (which is moreso an indictment of how these newer games don't promote team gameplay anymore so nobody uses SOFLAM/goes Engineer with you/etc.)
BF6 is indeed really well polished technically but a lot of the design decisions are shit. Maps are tiny, vehicles are glass cannons, most unlockable gadgets are garbage, shortened range of everything + minimal damage dropoff past a certain point + excessive bloom starting from shot 1 means that SMGs and carbines (that aren't the M7) dominate every engagement
oh and to top it all off no permanent dedotated server browser and they keep adding a gorillion new game modes so everyone gets split off into smaller and smaller pools of players. this is UNDOUBTEDLY going to cause long term playerbase issues, meanwhile in BF4 even on OCE you can still find several full servers every day, over a decade on
