They were pretty neat when they were twelve dollars for cheap quality, and had a lot more widespread game-to-game use where the amiibo you scanned mattered, but nowadays they're more like figures that would normally be in some Collector's Edition being sold for 40-50 dollars separate, and are largely meant for one game whose only real amiibo features are exclusively for that one amiibo while other existing amiibo give bonuses so minor that you may as well not even bother.
