You seem to have misinterpreted what that meant. Allow me to rephrase it: the target audience is "not you." Their aim when making things like that is to get you and people like you to not play it. They don't care who else picks it up, as long as you don't. This isn't sweeping politics under the rug, it's rolling out the red carpet. These decisions are 100% politically motivated and done at your expense, personally, because they hate you and think there's enough other people that also hate you that will buy into it out of spite for you. Granted, these kinds of decisions were made when people thought "not you" was a much larger demographic.

Also bioware was a pioneer at using sex as a driving force to get players engaged in the story then immediately stopped putting evocative romance options in their games.
Nowadays most romance options are shit due to DEI. As much as I think BG3 is overrated, at least they had the wherewithal to make all romance options available to anyone while CDPR made the best option gay only
