You are correct, but they cost a shit ton of money and have shitty battery ...which they all do. For me its a nice way to find a middleground for like 200$ or so.

You are not wrong about the shills anon, thats why you watch and read mutiple reviews and wait a bit ( early models are 100% cooked). retro games corps seems pretty reliable though because he shittalks a lot of chinkhelds. Now as for the battery, its pretty easy to replace, and the more reliable brands alo offer shiping the parts you need. Never had to do it to my previos chinkheld though.

Its basically a glorified android with better buttons and cooling. for Pc games you can choose 2 options, Winulator (emulates windows ) and Gamehub (use the light version). both of them run 100% of all indiefag games but they can runs everal old Pc games very well (prototype, sleeping dogs, fallout 3, skyrim..etc...). Just dont expect Cyberpunk. You can run it on ur phone but its shit because controls suck and well your roasting it with this. If you wish for a Pc game console , just buy a steam deck. Chinkhelds are more portable and have better battery life for most of the time though

I'd like something that won't run aaa, but would be more or less 100% pc compatible, be it win or linux. i imagine most chinkdroids are good with emulation, but I want that slice of pc stuff to continue what I'm on, and just for emulation I've got enough games on my 3ds, because I don't travel that much anyway.

I would have gotten steamdeck in a heartbeat but the size, battery life and price pulled me off

this shit cost me 260$ (i waited for sale) and its very well made for what i paid for it (3 months of use)

Gamehub lets me run like 90% of pc games. Ive tried every indie shit that is popular and its works flawlessly.. tried some old classics like dragons dogma and Overlord:raising hell and again flawlesly ( it can go up to 60fps but i lock it to 30 because battery is kinda shit for pc games and it generates less heat) . Tried playing Sudeki and it wont start ( compatability issue ig) AAA games with lowspec should work but its a gamble and even then you have to deal with settings and shit.. I would keep my eyes on retroid pocket 6 desu (its also android but linux compatible) . It has the same chipset as my chinkheld but with oled...and that makes me cum

and we are all men of culture here... I use Gamehub lite v 4.0 Pubg apk ( lets you beef it up a bit more then regular apk) ..Well for now, i shit you not i ran :

Crysis - ran very good, 30 fps ( a bit of spikes when locking to 60), battery lasted for 2 hours give or take , Cpu goes to 70C but if you turn on turbo it drops to 63 ( 75 should be when u need to worry about degredation but the console shuts down after 85C

Dragons dogma : runs better then the switch port, emulator has built in HDR and sharpening which makes the game look very nice, for the batetry and temp, same story

Halo MCC - this one runs at 30 solid, game is very ncie to play on this device due to controlls but it takes like 120 gigs of storage, Battery gets u 2 and a half hours , cpu gets to 69 on balanced fan preset

Mostly i try to limit the temp to 71C and battery to 42C as for the performance, 30 fps with no stutters is good enough for me, but you can defenetly play around. Keep in mind that you get PC games, flawless ps2, retrofag games, 3ds games, and kinda okish switch games (Eden emulator)

I don't even plan on using the thing untethered, my idea of portable is at parents' or a hotel. Well that does sound good. I did some research in meantime and your thing wouldn't work for me, no chance in hell I'd play Rogue Trader on it. And I'm not buying a deck just to use it for a few months a year, at most. However I expect them to stagnate in the next 2 years. They are slowly running out of cheap old phone hardware to use and sub $100 devices now reach into the PS2/GC territory.

But you dont buy it for the power. You buy it for build quality, form factor and battery... the thing is, the chikhelds and mobile chips today are powerful enough to run a shit ton of heavy weight games, some of them have better chipsets then switch 2 which is ass.. The thing holding chinkhelds and emulation back is the software and not hardware.

they all run Android because recent phone hardware rarely has linux support. It's shit but it's very similar shit.
Build Quality is fairly decent already in individual parts, though not necessarily all parts.
There isn't that much room for improvements and decent hardware parts aren't even that expensive.

While a high quality is nice to have, I think the point of chinkhelds is that they need to be cheap, something you can take around without worrying too much or they miss the point. No matter how good they are, they can't beat a stationery setup.
Once Retroid 5 equivalents go for under $150 we are set for a while.
