I miss old mmos were the majority was retarded so just having basic/intermediate knowledge made you a "The Guy" to plebs.

Sort of. In late Burning Crusade, I got balls deep into theory crafting in time to he pretty respected during WOTLK. Specifically, I helped push the Survival Meta after the catastrophic Beast Mastery nerf while being EXTREMELY vocal about how much I hated what the devs did to my favorite spec on the forums. I got a few bans for making some accusations about favoritism and catering to Arena faggots. My crowning achievement was crunching numbers and getting live test proof that Beast Mastery was the best DPS available for the Lich King fight. That level of justification for my fanboyism solidified my ePeen until I got burnt out and quit during Cataclysm. I was also a pretty notorious Blood DK troll in PvP during the height of both expansions and did a lot of proof of concept for soloing content with the build.

I once mentioned my playstyle I loved back when planetside 2 still had a decent player pop and some anon namedropped my account from Emerald.

There was a 256 server I frequented on BF3 that I got notorious on. It was to the point that mods would autokick me if I wasn't on their team and the actual admin would force rebalance to put me on his team if he was active. I was banned from a ton of servers with accusations of cheating, but I was just an autistic Support player with a basic understanding of tactics.
