>Hmmm... I need a name for myself so I can live among the people of Japan and not make them aware that I am the son of Dracula, Alucard.
>But what should I call myself so nobody catches on...

hey, blame whoever wrote son of dracula

he stays in solitude between CV3 and SOTN. he doesn't go to japan until before AoS and he's using a pseudonym by that point.

A pseudonym that is how his regular name is pronounced by the people he's living among?

I don't know what your talking about OP. This man looks nothing like this Alucard fellow you are talking about.

That's the genius of it. Whenever someone accuses him of that, he can just say how stupid that would be to dismiss it.

I wonder if he fucked Maria and has descendants somewhere.

To be fair, the only people who know about Alucard to begin with wouldn't be fooled by any disguise he decided to use, since it's not like there's a hell of a lot of half-blood vampires opposing Dracula. All he had to do was pass himself off as a Japanese dude to any random Japanese muggles he happened to run into. From what I remember, he wasn't trying to fool Yoko or anyone affiliated with the church.

The real mind bender is his name isn't Alucard and his father's name isn't Dracula.
So he could have just went around as Adrian.

In the flashback nightmare that the Succubus put him through, even his own mother called him Alucard. Either he never went by Adrian, or he's so committed to the name Alucard that his own subconscious considers it his true name at this point.

Anon, play the game again. It's because the Succubus was a dumb cunt who tried to recreate a memory but got it wrong on multiple angles. She called him Alucard because only himself and his parents even know his real name.
Anonymous No.724908984 [Report]
Universal did it first.
Anonymous No.724909097 [Report]
It's actually a pretty kino name if you look at the kanji used for his japanese pseudonym, same goes for Soma's name, none of the names have katakana. All that meaning got lost in translation

Admittedly I haven't played it since the Dominus Collection came out and it put me in the mood to marathon the IGAvania games so my memory might be fuzzy. But I thought his "mother" called him Alucard several times and he didn't think anything was wrong until she commanded him to take revenge on humanity. Which, like I said, would suggest that either his mother actually called him Alucard or he doesn't even think of Adrian as his "real" name enough to even notice the discrepancy.

What was the point of this anyway? Yoko spoils it to the player almost immediately, but Soma never actually finds out and outside of Julius Mode in DoS it doesn't even matter

Anonymous No.724909791 [Report]

It's aimed to the player, not the character. If anything it emphasizes how Soma is being manipulated by everyone into awakening Dracula's soul and choosing not to become him again

So was Dracula just lying at the end of SOTN when he was acting all sad and shit like he felt bad about his behaviour because Arikado San had to kill him again for good in 1999.

Whoever replaced Kojima's artstyle for the sequel needs to be shot.

It's implied there's two halves to his soul, the one that is Mathias and later reincarnates as Soma and the one that is the embodiment of Chaos. They were separated after the 1999 eclipse seals the later, Soma needs to severe that bond by himself after the 2035 eclipse reunites them. See Aria of Sorrow from Alucard's perspective, he knows both Soma and Mina are the reincarnation of their parents and are fated one to be murdered and the other to become the dark lord

I was never fond of the reincarnation thing replacing the established resurrections but that's actually an intriguing view point for an immortal to have to gauge how to approach.

iirc it was mainly because the ds was seen as a kid's console, they also changed the color of the blood until it was reverted back in Order of ecclesia. ironically, it demonstrated that other artists could create nice characters without kojima's involvement. sadly that wasn't the case for bloodstained's coomer character design

I actually had a friend watching me play SotN and I casually bring up that Alucard was Dracula backwards. Not sure why or the context, probably just for a joke, but his mind was genuinely fucking blown as he didn't even realize that the entire time.

nigger faggot, look at the kana plant and breast progression of eve from blaster master, that kind of character design works for that specific type of game but not for castlevania/bloodstained, it's tasteless. the same artist that works for inti was tasked with designing all characters since they couldn't get a hold of kojima and see how that turned out

but she doesn't even know he was alucard when she made the illusion
she only finds out when she's defeated, when she "smells" his blood and realizes he's dracula's son

The origin of the name is really weird, in Son of Dracula from 1943. I think something weird happened behind the scenes where the filmmakers couldn't agree on whether "Count Alucard" was actually Dracula's son (also named Dracula) or Dracula himself.
Anonymous No.724920903 [Report]

Going off of the Bloodlines EGM fax, they seemed to have originally planned for the Lecardes to be related to Dracula and thus Alucard in some way, since it's pointed out that their family crest is a dragon just like Dracula and Bartley's. There's also some suspicious censored text in the Lecarde part of the document.

The Alucard Spear was originally a spear that Dracula's decapitated head had been left to rot on top of.
