Should video games be made solely to gain a profit, or is it good companies make video games that don’t necessarily make a profit but exist as a work of art from a team of people who are creatively fulfilled

TLDR: should games exist as art for creative fulfillment funded by corporate patrons, or as products of corporate interest.
And no, they aren’t the same thing the motives are completely different and the executions change that
Btw for context I’m making this after playing Outer Worlds 2, a game by all accounts flopped but was overall a really damn great product. I just want to see what other anons think about games as a means of sharing experience, or being an entertainment product meant to sell.
