It took me 25 hours, but I finally did it. I beat Azra. It says that I beat Azra thrice in my savefile but that's only because it's counting wrong and it thinks I did it before he pulls out the final trick in his sleeve.

What a masterful fucking game. I kneel. And I'm not done with it. Not even close. On to another 10 hours, at least.

It's one of the best roguelites I have ever played (Top 5) and also one of the beast Beat Em Ups I have ever played (Top 10). The genre mixes flawlessly and it's actually insane it's never been done before. It looks gorgeous, has an incredible orchestral soundtrack and is very fun. I'm already hoping they make a sequel cause they hit a homerun here.

TO BE FAIR TO MYSELF, I am purposefully not upgrading this thing at this point. A second Mother's Grace, increasing its efficiency to 100%, epic trinktets becoming 5% likely to spawn, the bonfires giving you the special moves if you rest with 0 of them. It seems a bit too good. I thought all the button were really good by themselves but then you'd get upgrades that rewarded just spamming jabs or something of the sort if that makes sense. While playing the demo it always felt like getting upgrades pushed you into a very specific play style rather than build up the toolbox of your vanilla buttons. I hope that makes sense.

That's the fundamental issue with most roguelites. When they're buffing certain skills with damage increases or effects, it suddenly becomes about that skill over others, which is why they almost all suck. Many games would be better if they simply made a randomized game and gave you all the core abilities, but people get addicted to the gambling element and feeling more powerful some runs.

I think this game kind of mitigates that just a tad by letting you reroll skills at a fairly low cost. I've been going out of my way to try to always get new skills I haven't used before so that I'm always varying it up, but you could also do it to try to be versatile. Have a normal attack that is good at one thing, a skill that is good at another, a running attack that is good at another, etc.
Not to try to be too reductive with "You control the buttons you press" tier defenses, but I think the game lets you specialize your character more to your liking than some other roguelites.

Midway point was probably the most fun I had with the game, after that my misgivings just kept on piling up.
Anyway, try stacking luck and **chaos** rituals for maximum **HELPMENIGGERMAN accidents**. Ended one of these runs with 10 ultimates to spare because they just kept dropping like candy.

The problem isn't merely the "woke". The problem is how bland and forgettable the cast is. De-sexed femwarrior, gender neutral ninjabot, tranny frog wizard, and the most generic Gimli expy ever conceived. Ironically the preggo nigga tree woman is the most memorable thing about the cast, but she isn't playable. Might have been more interesting if she was. At least it would dial up the weirdness factor. Everything about the casts design just screams "safe". Not horny. Just safe. No edges on that butter knife. Completely impossible to cut yourself on it. But that is the problem with a lot of modern woke projects. Their entire existence is avoiding treading on the eggshells of the microaggressed.

I haven't played with the dwarf and the frog in weeks, so my memory is a bit murky on those two, but I seem to remember it goes something like:
Frog > Dwarf = Elf > Puppet

The puppet is the one I finally beat the game with (I've been doing it in a lore kind of way, used the dwarf to beat the Underking, the frog to beat the Lizard King, the elf to beat the Silver Queen and now the Puppet to beat Azra) and she seems pretty shit unless you're doing highly specific gadget combos. She just seems so much weaker than the others in terms of damage.

I have a question. So I have heard the troon frog has some dialogue in game about a sex change (because of the naturally occurring IRL phenomenon, yeah yeah, I know). Its Drow > Karl = Frog > Puppet. Drow has my favorite moveset, good arcanas and good upgrades. Karl is otherwise good, but I dont like his arcanas. Frog has great arcanas but some weird moves. And puppet just feels weird to use, but because she attacks real quick she can really wreck shit if you get builds going.

It was good but the rouge like elements really hampered it. It has a ton of replay value, I will give it that - we didnt finish all the quests and will probably get to it at some point. We just both agreed that it would've been a much better game if we could just have our full movesets, or at least pick which ones you leave the base with. Going an entire run and only using your first arcana move because the second one they give you fucking blows is really wack. Theres also times where you can tell from the first draw of rituals that this run is going to be ass, and then just restart. As someone who grew up playing SOR since like 1994 its just not fucking cool, give me the whole game and let me play it, don't make me fight against RNG as well

If you get lucky enough to get a bunch of tornado and/or bubble upgrades, by the end of the game the enemies are fucking stuck floating in the air until your 300 hit combo ends and theyre dead. If you played the SOR4 DLC you would understand what I mean - the entire game is a stun lock juggle fest designed around EPIC combos with HUGE damage numbers, instead of just fucking fighting enemies until theyre dead. It really is more luck than skill based, even the last bosses are fucking helpless if you pull the right gachas

I was actually about to give this schlock a try. My buddy knows I like beat em ups and rogue-esque games, so he sent me this one. I could sense the woke from the art style alone, and from a youtube thumbnail no less. Before I was able to even identify which of the characters were supposed to be male or female, or whatever. That's pretty sad that it glows that hard with their intentions. Still bought it on Steam to play with my friend because he had read somewhere that crossplay was good to go. After attempting to join eachother in-game (it didn't work) we checked online, and found it actually wasn't functional at launch. So I refunded. Wasn't very impressed with the very short stint of what I saw either.

What even count as the "right" way anymore? Azra lacks a lot of defensive immunities. He's still vulnerable to throws so karl in particular can easily throw loop him while cinder's throw upgrade comes in handy too. He doesn't have super armor so counter-hit full combos can send him flying into the windows or a long range attack opens him up pretty easily, hell karl again can just gun him down. Its also piss easy to reach him with at least 2 dogs remaining or even more companions like the bandit queen or necro summons so he opens himself up swinging on them instead. Brome fucking outclashes him too, so its really just a matter of if you know your characters juggle combo route that avoids any need for OTG since he can tech the landing

Maybe because I was playing 2 player and there was always a ton of enemies on screen, but I liked the skeletons because they pull enemy attention off of us and let us prioritize and clear them out more effectively. My gf fucking NEVER uses or throws items in beat em ups for some reason, but I was spamming the shit out of thorn daggers whenever I got the ability, especially if you take the ones where they do more damage based on flight distance. Almost every ritual in the game is OP if you max it out in a run, only ones i didn't find that useful were tidal wave (spreads enemies out too much) and the lightning skills (weaker than fire/water/wind)

Alright heres what I managed to scrounge up basically beelined it to him. Very sloppy on my part I kept underestimating how low to the ground he is when not thrown but hey I do what I can. Accidentally freed a chicken from prison and since they're immortal they got in the way a few times which hurt me more than helped and as a compromise I tried to stay close to keep aggro on me. No blessings that spawn crap(or at least they're locked to arcana which I can't use) so just fire + lightning since necro shield never showed up. Upgrades were the grab rush, piledriver, reload and super arcana, tried not to use any of them but reload popped up a few times which ended up nerfing some of my hits and there were a few throws from when we accidentally ran into each other. Considering without restrictions the true final boss is a goddamn cakewalk I would have accepted losing a revive but I'm glad I managed to clutch it out

Ehh considering you lose a revive to the true final boss to even fight it I usually just cheese azra with whatever is available to my character. The dodge attack is pretty much your main way of starting a combo if you're not close enough to throw him into the wall. As for the others underking you said is fine but just to double check when he knocks you back for the fire shooting spam you're running at him to hit him in his blind spot and not just sitting in the corner yeah? The 2nd areas are both equal in rewards once opened up so its a matter of going to elf necroland if you're confident in your crowd control(the main boss also has HP drops surprisingly) or go swamp if you're confident at clashing.

Chain lightning feels very good. Its one of those skills that you can just pick and forget, and when it proccs it can just insta-juggle enemies and does nice damage

I guess they didn't want players to just go ham with the cellar-upgrades. You usually get something like... 400-500 crystals per run if you go the distance, that means you can get 1 rare and 1 less-rare perk, or 2-3 less rare ones. Sounds decent enough for me. If you want to go ham, then you have to save your crystals from multiple runs, but I usually just bought the dice that turns combo-score into money and thats enough to have fun!
