I mean...he's stuck in a false reality for eternity which is being manipulated by his psychotic little sister all while knowing the truth of the world. He wanted release. He wanted death...to be free. Maella denied that for her own selfish reasons. If you look at it from Verso's perspective, it's most likely a living hell. He can't kill himself. Maella could easily bring him back or even prevent it. The Verso in the canvas world knows he's just an imitation of the real Verso created by "his mother" so he's really no different than the denizens inside the canvas, but he knows the truth. It probably would have been a blessing if Maella at least wiped his memories, but if she did that then she knows it wouldn't be the same as him knowing the truth.

I personally see Maella's ending as really fucked up. It doesn't feel fucked up if you don't look at it from Verso's perspective, or you just didn't give a shit about Verso and felt like he was wrong, though I don't see how he was wrong. He didn't want to live in a false reality and wanted to grant the "real" Verso peace. He lied and swindled to get what he wanted but he probably knew the others would stand in his way if they knew the truth about the canvas world, so he lied to them.

I literally beat the game a second time this week. The Flying Manor is right above the first part of the continent and clearly isnt hidden, Clea trapped pClea but the Expedition entered the manor easily so its not like there was a barrier of sorts. The painted family was alive for nearly 70 years, other than wiping out expeditions, what were they actually doing with their free time? Especially Alicia considering shes just there the entire time.

It's honestly strange. E0's flag is a few yards away from where Clea's chamber is implying Verso has been to the flying manor, but during the cutscene before Clea's fight Verso is surprised to see her. That said, he wouldn't have been able to save her anyway. She was painted over by the real Clea to turn her into a nevron broodmother and Verso lacks any painting power

That's another can of contradicting worms. Maelle claims she isn't skilled enough to paint over other people's paintings, yet she offers to fix Alicia's scars and also paints Verso old. My guess is that "cosmetic" changes are easier to do than undoing brainwashing but that's literally just a headcanon. The alternative explanation is "Maelle is lying, but only when she feels like it"
