There was a time where I would shit on these games for that very reason, but I'm past it. No, this isn't some kind of tired dad gamer shit either. It's okay for a game to be simple fun. Because these games are made to be flashy, people like to act superior by claiming they're simple and mindless, but the same people probably like to discuss the merits of the "gameplay loop" in other games. That's just how games work. Some games do more to mask the repetition, but they all utilize some sort of core cycle.

Gamespot is the only one really bitching about it because they got mad that Ganondorf gets imprisoned at the end and they already knew that. With your inflammatory response, I have my doubts that you have any interest in sincere discussion but to clarify I mean that I want to see evidence that the characters we get to play as are actually interesting. Part of that is waiting for the story to make us care, if it can, but at the very least you can see that the faceless sages have elemental powers. Rauru and Mineru have light and constructs. The random ass Hylians are . . . just people. They haven't shown otherwise in the marketing, which makes no sense because when the gameplay is repetitive by nature you should probably try to make people excited about the characters they'll be grinding with.

Can confirm. His normal moveset is basically the same as Link from AoC, but you can change his strong attacks depending on the zonai device. His C3 shield surfing turns into rocket surfing for example, and I've just seen that his boring C1, which is normally just a few attacks with the bow (great weakpoint revealer in AoC though) can be changed with the ZONAI CANNON. Funny that the Link replacement might be the only interesting character in the game.

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity. People really enjoyed Hyrule Warriors because it was a celebration of all the Zelda games set in its own world and it had a well paced DLC schedule. When AOC was announced people were iffy on the mosou being based on Breath of the Wild world but were willing to give it a chance and even though it was set in an alternate reality BotW, it still had some cool things going for it. But AOC dropped the ball on the storytelling (because we already knew what the story was and how it ended, it just took a different route to get there) and they bungled the DLC schedule mightily. Now we're getting the Imprisoning Wars which again, we already know the story too, and we're getting playable characters in IW that have even less relevance in ToTK then the playable characters in AOC did to BotW. There is really nothing IW offers other then Zelda in her ToTK outfit doing mosou things.

I found Age of Calamity to be too boss focused. Like, I want my primary goal in Musou games to be to wipe out large numbers of small, weaker enemies as efficiently as possible on multiple battlefronts. But Calamity was basically about killing larger boss enemies and the mobs were just filler that really didn't contribute to your progression ingame. Have they done anything to resolve that?
